My 81 TXL-Indy project

I wanted to see how well the upload feature works now.... and what I have to do to integrate the gallery with it so the pictures attached to posts show up, but the pictures attached to PMs don't (not integrated yet)

So here is my 1981 TXL-Indy. I bought 2 for $250. One good chassis from 2.

OK so i realized that I don't have my resto pics on here dammit. I'll just upload random crap.

westman995 06-24-2008 12:35 PM

You should re attach those pics of your sled. I want to see it.. Im thinking of getting a vintage polaris if i can find one that is "decent" for cheap.

Is this the liquid cooled 340 TXL?

Ibreakstuff 06-24-2008 01:56 PM

Yes, it's liquid cooled.. hence the L at the end. I have to find the resto pics and I'll re-upload them later.

westman995 06-24-2008 03:06 PM

Ok cool thanks, Do you have pics of before the resto?

Also does tx stand for anything? If so, what?

I am thinking a txl would be one i would want. It wouldnt really be a all out resto if it would be called resto at all.. But i would fix it up a little see what i can do with it, there is a vintage ride they have in a town real close. I think snowattitude knows about it cuz hes close by too. Anyways i would like to get a vintage sled and use it on that ride and stuff.

I have an 82 TXL-Indy chassis you can HAVE for FREE if you want.

No engine or exhaust. The rest of it is all there. Track's even in great shape.

westman995 06-24-2008 03:17 PM

I would take it, But im in southern MN

Ibreakstuff 06-24-2008 03:19 PM

Road trip yo.

Ah shit man, you're just a hop and a skip away.

Get out into the world a bit my friend, you'll realize how close things actually are.

westman995 06-24-2008 03:39 PM

Hmm.. Want to get me a car, gas, and a license?? Im all good for a road trip then haha

I would love to take that off your hands, But there is no way i could come get it.

Does your sled have the IFS front suspension?? Or the leaf spring? There is an 83 txl 340 liquid that needs some work. He wants 80 bucks for it. Its missing the hood and it has a bent IFS bar, coolant leak, I dont know what else..

Ibreakstuff 06-24-2008 03:45 PM

Mine's an INDY so it's IFS.

westman995 06-24-2008 03:48 PM

Both of them have the IFS? That would be sweet to have an older sled like that with the IFS. I really want one now damn it haha.. Where exactly in michigan are you located?

RipnChick 06-24-2008 04:10 PM

He's in the Urban Sprawl of Chicago there Matlock

Triple650indy 06-24-2008 04:15 PM

Did you just make an obscure Matlocke reference in front of someone less than 20 years old?

MX86 06-24-2008 04:38 PM

lol

mach1 07-21-2008 07:16 PM

is that one of those old tripples if so ive got an old mag with one in it

Polaris1man 07-21-2008 07:30 PM

I had one the first 500 made in 1980, I think the number was 404, coolest sled ever back then, IFS, 340 motor that would top out at 80MPH, and even with the xtra 2 suspension, they handle like no other. My old man bought one in 1981, while working for Artic Cat!! So there you are Keith, he even put the A.C. on the trailer as a back up!! So, do the same with your new Polaris purchase, put teh A.C. on the trailer as a back up

mach1 07-25-2008 11:23 AM

they actually called it extra 2

mach1 09-30-2008 09:39 AM

Ibreakstuff 09-30-2008 11:22 AM

It'd be a little bit of a haul to drive all the way down to the ghetto. Wanna throw it on Olaf's trailer when he comes to the UP this fall?

How do you like this idea?

Ibreakstuff 09-30-2008 02:03 PM

MIne's got IFS dood.

Powersledder 09-30-2008 02:22 PM

oh, i was hoping it was still the 70's style chassis......you can keep it then
