zrt engine in a zr?

wondering if any one has done this, have a 98 zr 600 that just lost its second engine and I would like to put in a zrt 600 engine. I am wondering on engine mounting,it looks like the zr has extra holes in the front and might be a bolt in with the zrt mounts? I looked at a zrt and looks like pipes should just fit but not 100% sure, would also use the zrt airbox.Would it be easy to put a 91-95 zr 700 engine with twin factory pipes?I know they put a 700 in from factory in 99,so was thinking this might be easy? Which ever way I go I would look to get a complete donner sled to be sure to have everything needed.Just want to do something different, dont trust the stock 600 twins, look on craigs list or ebay on all the ones getting parted,or blown up,otherwise love the chassis.

the 700 twin would be an easier swap you think!? can you find a zrt 800 engine at a decent price?

The main reason you see so many of that size is because there are so many of that size.
It would probably be easier to put a 700 twin in there rather than a triple since the mounts will be more closely matched.

I was looking for a 800 but far and few between and there are a ton of zrt 600s for sale.I would think the smaller size of the 600 would fit better? Im leaning towards the older zr 700 swap since you can buy a whole sled for under a grand, and then sell the rest along with the bottom end of my zr engine, just really like those tripples!

the 600 and 800 are pretty much the same size. the ol' 700 wildcat was a good setup, big carbs and twin pipes.
