How does the belt appear, is it worn evenly, or mostly on one side?
Are the sheave faces clean?

FORMULAforDESTRUCTION 02-17-2009 02:10 PM

with a new belt on take the sled for a short drive, then feel the belt, is it hot? if not drive more check again.

how are the rpms of the sled? if you were stopped, then puched it would it climb to 100 on the speedo?

FORMULAforDESTRUCTION 02-17-2009 05:08 PM

how would i check it it turns freely by hand but my primary clutch makes a click nosie when it engages at like 4 1/2 rpms i don`t know much about how the clutch works so ....??

Polaris1man 02-17-2009 05:55 PM

Sell the Banana Peel, buy a Polaris, and let the A$$ whoopin' begin!!! Yep, that includes "douche bag" himself!! Here Kitty Kitty!!!

I hear a click out of my primary sometimes. My clutch works though. The clutches could use a cleaning and checking. You should start with the secondary, because that is only one bolt to remove.

The Gerbil 02-17-2009 06:16 PM

Check the preload on your secondary. I had a '96 mxz that was assembled by some dipshit (me) and it wasn't preloaded. By, by belt.

Madcow 02-17-2009 06:20 PM

the secondary is where i would start, take it off and have it checked out.

FORMULAforDESTRUCTION 02-17-2009 10:02 PM

how do you set preload on the secondary??? ok will see what happens should be interesting

OCR 02-17-2009 10:05 PM

The end plate has to be turned as it is installed so that the buttons/rollers engage the helix ramps before locking down.

blue avenger 02-17-2009 10:58 PM

can you with the belt off grab one side of the secondary in each hand and feel heavy spring resistance rotating one side one way? will return to stop freely? when you have it rotated can you slide one side in and out freely?
