what year is this Ski-Doo?

I helped this guy along the trail today and i forgot to ask him what year it was. Any ideas?

70s plastic with no cracks showing. cool my TNT has a big chunk missing.

Mich_Sledder 01-01-2010 07:58 PM

it was in excellent exterior shape. It ate two belts in an hour. I suspect the belts were vintage also.

mach1 01-01-2010 08:01 PM

do you have a pic of the front

Mich_Sledder 01-01-2010 08:04 PM

nope. I only realized that I should take a picture when they were almost gone.

mach1 01-01-2010 08:06 PM

well its a nice looking sled anyway

Mich_Sledder 01-01-2010 08:08 PM

Despite the belt problems the engine sounded great. There were riding two up on it and were ending up a 20 mile loop. So the dang thing certainly had heart.

years ago a had a 1980 skidoo blizzard 503,and i heard a pop ,while going across a lake.i only had $150 in to it so i ran it home,a 2hr ride back, the next day i took it apart and one piston broke off on the top next to the rings and then chewed up a ring.but she got me home

Looks late 70's to me. Glad to see the old iron out, hopefully he takes care of her.

Kevin Garceau 01-02-2010 07:48 AM

that looks real similar in the bars and switches/guages to the 79 olympique we had for a while.

blue avenger 01-02-2010 08:17 AM

thinking 73. notice if it had a "pop up" headlight?

Mich_Sledder 01-02-2010 09:03 AM

Pop Up

Yep, it did have a pop up headlight which I found interesting at the time.

Mich_Sledder 01-02-2010 09:12 AM

Adding a little more interest to this was that the guy was wearing regular sled wear and the woman, in her mid-20's, was wearing a snowmobile "suit" like I wore in the 70's.

blue avenger 01-02-2010 02:56 PM

some of the old suits are bringing some good money on flea bay

Mich_Sledder 01-02-2010 04:02 PM

A guy who has a website about old skid doos says that it's 1987 or 1988 Ski-doo Safari 377

mach1 01-02-2010 05:30 PM

it kinda looks like a 80 everest

Kevin Garceau 01-02-2010 09:30 PM

It says everest on the running boards....you can see the "EST" of it, the rest covered by snow.

Def not a 73 look at the molded rubber bars, and the gas cap etc....much newer than 73

Mich_Sledder 01-03-2010 05:28 AM

I blew up the picture a bit. Is this the section of the running board you are seeing?

It says 377 Electro.

I didn't see another section.

Mich_Sledder 01-03-2010 05:37 AM

Old Yammies

Then yesterday when I was out I saw to of these together:

.

This picture is off the internet but these two were going strong through the woods.

Around here when we get some snow that's going to be around for a while everyone seems to pull their (really) old sleds out from the back of the garage and goes out on the trails. The only two trailside breakdowns I saw yesterday were newer Skidoos.
