no spark in old colt

hi, i have an old 75 polaris colt, last week i had spark and now i don't. Any suggestions, or things i should be checking before i start taking things apart? Thanks,
Mike

I had a 77 Colt SS 340. It would randomly lose spark too. Most of the time it was dirty points.

Also check spark plug cap ends

hi,
spark plug gaps are ok, just gapped them when i got the new plugs about 2 weeks ago. New to this type of sled, is there an easy way to clean the points?

When he says "plug CAP ends" he means the ends of the plug wires that plug into the coil and the spark plug boot.

Take the recoil housing off, and the starter cup. You'll see 2 oval shaped windows you can carefully clean the points through with an emery board.

On vintage sleds, just because the plugs are "new" they could be bad already.
Flood it once there shot.

Go on a vintage ride, most carry several sets.

thanks guys, i will check the wires and the points. I am sure i have also flooded it before i realized i wasn't getting any spark. I will try new plugs and see what happens, thanks.
