800ext

I have little working knowledge of AC, but i will be switching brands if Poo moves shit to Mexico. I was looking a 800EXT. Can any of ya'll give me a low down on there 800 motor and the new style ext's? The looks are secondary but i do like the looks, i just wanna know about the 800 motor and chasis and the real world handling of it, i ditch bang and little trials. Will be making trips to Mi and Mn this year, so looking for a good all around sled. Thanks ya'll. Any other recomdations would be cool as hell also.

That engine was made in Japan

Ibreakstuff 05-22-2010 10:50 AM

Yep, Cat uses Suzuki engines - always have.

I cant say much, all my Poos that Fuji motors in them. They are Jap motors unless im mistaken??? Hell wouldnt be the first time!

Powersledder 05-22-2010 02:52 PM

Not to be an ass, but then your argument about switching brands based on poo moving some of its operations to mexico is a bit hypocritical. Every MFG either makes parts in another country or gets them from there.

Brian Lee 05-22-2010 03:20 PM

I understand that Bill, but what im saying is they are moving an entire manufacturing facility to Mexico. If we bitch but do nothing then we are worse than they are. Dont get me mistaken, i love my Polaris, and i too have written a letter, but if they unemploy american workers and move that one plant down there, they have lost my loyalty. You cant hardly buy a complete made in USA anything anymore. Im very much aware of that. I have gotten to a point where im tired of breakn or bending my beliefs to make me or anyone else happy. If I dont make a stand now, then where will I and how will I. I passed up many a good deal on some fast ZRT's cause of brand devotion. Its just a me thing and I hope I did a better job of explaning why i may make the decission I may make.

Powersledder 05-22-2010 03:51 PM

I totally agree with taking a stand and telling polaris they're wrong for moving one of the plants to mexiland.

I just found it ironic that you said you would jump ship to a company that gets their engines from Japan.

Also... Dumping an "older" model for another brands "older" model is not going to punish the company. That is why I stated I would not buy a new product from them if this is the trend. But the already built product is as much American as it could get, and money spent now is passed between Americans.

That is the same reason I will not buy a new GM or Chrysler product... They sold out on the American public and trust and myself and millions of Americans have made that disgust apparent to their bottom line.

I am in the same mind set as you and have been for many years..... To the point my wife is upset with me almost every time we shop, because I check mfr location on EVERYTHING and refuse to buy most CHINA shit(sadly forced to occasionally because no option).

It would do something in a secondary reaction. Most people are brand loyal to a certain extent. Joe Blow wants to sell his old indy 500 so he can buy a new IQ, but if he can't sell his 500 he won't be able to afford the new IQ. This keeps Poo from making a sale but it also punishes another potential buyer.

Now here's a moral dilemma;

What if Joe Blow is trying to sell his old Indy 500 because he is one of the Osceola, WI plant employee's that's going to be laid off and can't afford the sled anymore. Do you buy the sled and help out one of the people Polaris replaced with mexi-labor or do you still refuse to buy it because it's a Polaris?

Brian Lee 05-22-2010 10:52 PM

Thats a good point Bill, when faced with something like that, i might make a concession, and be able to in good conceious for im helping a displaced american worker. It fuckn sucks cause i was wanting to seriously look at buying something newer this year.
