octane for 90 jag
im helping my buddy fix his sled up for winter and we did a compression test on it and both cylinders have 145lb compression. we were speechless.

its s a 1990 440 jag afs

is this thing suppose to have that much compression??

when i did the compression test, the exhaust was off and i held the throttle wide open

and what octane should we run in it?

87 is fine, unless it has some old gas in it. Then I run premium to try and make up for a small amount of older gas.

no we put a new gas tank on it so the gas is good.

one other quick question, when you pin it from idle it takes awhile to get up 3000 then it takes off fine from 3000, the plugs look a little rich but not to bad so do you think the idle is to rich?

Either that or the pilot jets are clogged.
If you "flip" the choke, will it accelerate better?

no, it will just flood out and die

Start with air screw at 1 turn out. Turn out 1/8 turn at a time until the rpms start to rise, then set idle rpm at around 1500.
