UP Conditions - 12/10 - 12/11

I'm up in Mass now and rode the last two days. Conditions are good for early season but still a bit scary. Both days we spent most of our time around Twin Lakes and they had the best snow. You can carve on the logging roads for the most part. There were plenty of hidden treasures to bounce off of in the woods. We hit the power lines and they were probably the most fun.... but no base. No carnage on my end except for another missing ski puck thing. Got to ride with John Dee today which was cool. Good times and definitely still a good time. I'm thinking next weekend will be nice and it should be great my Christmas.

Sounds awesome.

definitely felt weird to get on a sled for the first time in 9 months.... Last ride was late Feb.

Post some pics when you get a chance and you take the bottle away from your mouth.

Are you tired of the Slydog ski rubbers popping out? Probably on set 8 or 9 here on the two M8s and I've had enough; thinking about buying different brand of skis.

Powersledder 12-12-2010 10:32 PM

Is this a common problem? Have people been complaining to slydog?

Gotmud 12-13-2010 08:35 AM

I've run slydog powderhounds for 3 years now and haven't lost one. ???

You ride like a grandpa!

thebreeze 12-13-2010 09:25 AM

Why all the dangerous off trail riding? Pretty risky if you ask me. LOL

You are 100% correct. After this weekend's carnage (not mine) I'll be sticking to the trails.

rock2324 12-13-2010 10:27 AM

Who else fucked their sled up?

Doospunk took a hill and ended up side hilling it to make it up.... and slammed a big rock. I don't know if he just bent his handlebar or also tweaked the a-arm.

Powersledder 12-13-2010 10:47 AM

Monday after weekend of riding and no pics, you fail.

Rubi 12-13-2010 11:09 AM

I've run the Powderhounds for 3 or 4 years now, and the only time one of the rubbers came off was when Baller hit a tree and snapped the whole ski off. I noticed it a few days later and rode 12 miles back into the mountains and found it laying in the snow near the offending tree!

Sorry. Check Facebook or John Dee's journal.

Yea, there was a power line support cable that I couldn't make it up. I wish someone had a video of it because I'm willing to bet I made it up it a good 8 feet LMAO.

Synchronized stucks. You get a lot of points for those....

There was another stuck that no one got a picture of. There is no base so as soon as the track digs through the snow you hit ice.... and if you have no momentum you're stuck. I bet a studded 136" could have made it that one where John and I got stuck side by side. I was actually going up to the top to help him when it happened.

I'm happy to say I only had ONE official stuck.

Having sets of black and white Slydogs, the white plastic seems the softer of the two and the ski bolt bronze bushings deform in the plastic allowing the rubber to pop out. Toss in a few backcountry roadbumps and boing - They're gone.

Doing some investigating, it appears there are new ski mounts for '09+ Ms and I'm curious if they fixed the problem. Strange that they aren't for '08+ Ms since that is the year AC switched to the new spindle design. Will call Slydog tomorrow and find out how they can permanently resolve the issue on my Ms. Just ordered a ton of other parts last night to get the sleds ready; don't really want to buy new skis this year for fear they won't fit my new direct-injected M next year.

cuzzinolaf 12-13-2010 10:03 PM

I have a 2010 M8 with all black Powderhounds...
