Can you put 700 or 800 cylinders on a 600 bottom end?
Just curious to as if you can put a bigger top end on a 600cc cat motor. Its supposedly a 2000 motor i dont know, its carb'd.

if the bolt pattern is the same then you can simply machine the case if you have to, to make the cylinders and piston fit into the case.

but then you have to look at the stroke of the engine the cylinders are coming off of and going onto. if the stroke is different then you will be decking the engine they are going onto or shimming the cylinders up.

yes it can be done, sometimes it is a simple bolt on and go.

Ya thats what i was wondering, if it would be a bolt on and go type of deal. Like i know on the polaris big block motors you can bolt up a 700 top end on a 600 bottom and go wihtout any modifications.

Time you get all done with the machining work, it would be cheaper for you to just buy a BB kit. (711, or 680)

I was just curious if it would or not. But im hoping the cylinders arent bad and can be honed a little bit and be re-used and some new pistons for it. One piston was pretty bad on the exhaust side, pretty melted.

Was no coolant in the bottle, took the head and cylinders off and no coolant was in them, only a little bit of coolant can be seen in the case.

Also we found one of the filters fell off one of the carbs, dont know how long it was run like that but we put different filters on it and then later that night i think it was when it blew up.

I dont know what to think of as what caused it... The exhaust side of the piston is scored to hell and melted towards the top..

Coolant leak or air leak. Pics would help to tell.

If any of the piston is stuck on the cylinder walls, use muriatic acid to clean it off.

I dont have a camera so i cant get any pics :/

It looks like someone might have re-used the head o-rings and tried to seal them with something, there is red gasket maker looking type of stuff on the head o-rings as far as i can tell.

Well were gona put two new pistons and gaskets in it. Took the motor out so we might as well split the cases and clean it or whatever at least.

The crank/rods are slightly discolored. They dont look too bad? It all spins freely still.. Im hoping its gona be good to re-use as is..

Do you think it could have been a bad crank seal that caused that one side to burn up so badly? A bad seal could cause a lean condition, right? The pto piston is the one that is bad. The mag side is a little scored but not really bad i dont think.

We got two pistons, gaskets, and seals on the way for it. So hopefully those cylinders clean up and are usable.

Yep, it is the most common cause of burn down. The second is carb problems/jetting.
As long as there is no up and down play on the rod bearings and they are smooth turning, a little discoloration is not an issue.

silicone, i have seen more people f things up trying to fix it with silicone than i have used silicone in a good way.
