That's badass! Let's see a full pic. Don't let the wife wreck this one.

2005 Harley Road King. Not the best pic but you get the idea. Anyone up for Sturgis this year?

A bike a couple of buddy's of mine just got done building. Hardtail chopper/bobber with a big ass shovel engine. He is riding this thing all the way to Sturgis this year. No trailer queens here.

Gotmud 03-25-2011 10:21 AM

^^ Gonna be a long fuckin ride for him lol.

76 naked gold wing, 1000 was swapped for an 1100 and the higher compression heads and hotter cams from the 1000 put on. It brakes the speed limit.

fgsacts 03-25-2011 11:09 AM

By a considerable amount I would guess!

These guys are pretty hardcore. I think we have three hardtails going this year. These guys are all early 30's and can still walk upright the next day. We had one hardtail with us two years ago and we all had to take turns riding it there and back. Everyone was in their 40's on that trip. Amazing what a difference ten years makes.

Slamdry 03-25-2011 11:15 AM

im a firm beleiver of "dont buy it if you cant ride it"

fgsacts 03-25-2011 11:31 AM

That is why I am on a Road King. The guy who had the hardtail also had a '59 Panhead. The Pan was struggling to keep up at 75mph cruising speeds on the highway on the way to Sturgis. We had a truck and trailer following us with a couple of bikes in it, one being the hardtail. The hardtail rolled out and the Pan rolled in and we kept going. Great looking bike but only meant to be a bar hopper. Both bikes have since been sold or torn down and built into something else.

blue avenger 03-25-2011 11:53 AM

waiting on a north facing, shaded garage door to open so I can get my VW Trike I bought last fall

i want a bobber in the worst way, but you wont ever hear me bitch about it hurting to ride or asking to swap with someone else when i get one and if its a hard tail.. my choice, my problem.. the way it should be..

I should snap a few more of my twisted twin with the new mufflers on it. Still need to find a windshield for it too along with the starter fix/upgrade.

Slamdry 03-25-2011 03:02 PM

snap and post away rj! i wanna see how its coming along!

Ha ha, you don't know these guys. Trust me, there was no bitching involved. We all enjoyed taking turns on it and offered. I love the looks of a hard tail bobber and hope to build one some day as a second bike/bar hopper. Just can't justify it as my only bike. Most I have ridden one is 250 miles and that was enough to convince me as cool as they look, I don't want one unless it is a second bike. This is the Wide Glide I had before the Road King. Looked good but was still comfortable on longer trips.

DirtylilWolfess 03-25-2011 04:51 PM

Fagsex, about how far do you make it between stops on one of those?

fgsacts 03-25-2011 05:27 PM

180-200 miles but I typically stop around 150 to take a break and fill up.

OCR 03-26-2011 07:29 AM

Slamdry, these things make decent rats/bobbers too. You should look at some of the pics that these guys have of their work.

Honda CX500 and GL500 Forum

Slamdry 03-26-2011 08:05 AM

i have seen a few of them bobbed out, i wouldnt mind one at all, but all the ones i have seen for sale are out of my price range to start. i'm cheap not going to lie lol mt gt550 i only paid 600 for and sold it for 1900 :) so thats how i like to roll on projects.

OCR 03-26-2011 08:12 AM

There is one (fully dressed) down here near me that may be available, I have to check it out and see if it's available.

Ratstang 03-27-2011 10:30 AM

I like the Gold wing. Got to love the big radiator, and chrome spoiler.
You know Honda is the best on earth.

Not saying anything bad about seat, but a 400 pounder could rotate it 90 degrees, and be more comfortable.
