Still rockin' the Ranger (03 v6 5sp standard 2wd), pulling 20" (14" deck) tandem axle flatbed.

Slamdry 10-13-2011 05:06 PM

i was looking for a ranger but everyone wanted to much for what they had. found this bought it right and works out better with the pup when we go places.

2003 Tahoe. Tows anything I need. I pulled my sled through the worst part of the blizzard last year to the upand through Chicago. So I like to thinks its good in the snow too.

flatlander_summit 10-13-2011 10:16 PM

07 Avalanche, thinking maybe a new Ecoboost or a new Oil-burner this year.

cuzzinolaf 10-14-2011 08:06 AM

No pictures handy of both.

Here is a truck just like mine.

Here is a trailer just like mine.

OUCH Slanteye I didn't realize your chevy was a MAX. How bad is your mileage? I'm getting 20mpg out of my 2011 gmc with the 5.3 and 6 speed tranny.

I have an 02 F250 for towing, with the 7.3 diesel. 4 place enclosed Haulmark trailer, that is for sale or trade for an inline 2-3 place.

cuzzinolaf 10-14-2011 08:21 AM

It isn't the Max. It has the 5.3. That is the only pic I could find with the 20s on it. When did you get the GMC? Pics?

Gotmud 10-14-2011 08:26 AM

Couple weeks ago, I'll post some pics.

Still driving the 2002 F150 w/ the Triton 2 place open. I need a 3 place enclosed. The sleds are filthy when I get too were I am going.

I'm thinking about using a smart car. The plan is to fashion a ramp/deck out of cardboard that can be raised or lowered for loading. The snowmobile track will be exposed, and sled throttle connected to smart car throttle. This way if the car gets stuck, or if I just want to faster. I can lower the sled to get the best traction, and drive on.

Why didn't you tell me about the GMC shithead.

Why are you posting in threads about snowmobiles? Shouldn't you be on some minivan forum and kissing wifey's ass?

Dirty_Harry 10-14-2011 10:36 AM

The only snowmobile posts you make are to make fun of Bryan and I.

I couldn't handle the 4.10 gears that got me less than 10mpg towing little trailer at anything over 65mph.

Gotmud 10-14-2011 11:33 AM

Yeah diesel gearing does suck. I know if I go over 70mph on the highway I might as well wave my wallet out the window because fueling is gonna drain it either way.

At 62-65mph I was able to get 15mpg towing my enclosed. At 65-70 (over 2k RPMs) I got 10mpg.

Gotmud 10-14-2011 11:39 AM

Now see I don't have the patients to drive 62-65mph, even if it is saving me money lol. I can run my gmc @ 90mph on the freeway and get 21mpg. :woohoo:

When did they put in the 6-speed tranny? 90mph and 21mpg? Ummmmm, I think you're hanging around Harry too much.

Gotmud 10-14-2011 11:46 AM

I dunno when they put them in lol, all I know is 2011 has a 6 speed. I'm averaging 20mpg in my gmc, AVERAGING. I'm on my 3rd fill up so far and that is what my average mpg was, which is about 50/50 driving. I'm hoping it improves the more its broken in but I'm not holding my breath. And just for the record, that is hand calculating and yes it is 4x4. Between the 6 speed trans and active fuel management I'm very impressed with the mileage.
I know this winter whenever I throw my sled in the back of the truck and haul ass to the yoop, the GMC will be hauling 90mph.:thumbss:
