Base gasket installation
Do you put any kind of liquid gasket material on the cylinder base gaskets? I didn't on my other 600, but the one I'm doing right now has tons of unidentifiable spunk on it from the previous owner. Which way is right?

Dry prefer

If needed use permatex

Fuck that dry shit, I put permatex Ultra Grey on mine before I learned it was bad to do. Now since I've been doing it "correctly" I've lost 2 base gaskets - both on waverunners. Ultra Gray or Black - better yet - use Threebond and you're really set.

Preferred method is dry, but I had to use Hondabond or yamabond or whatever the hell its called on my Cometic Gaskets.

I just did mine dry. Seemed to seal fine. Just get her good and clean first.
the rubberpronged gasket remover for a hand held 2" angle grinder did the trick for me.

What brand of gaskets did you end up getting?

Slamdry 12-08-2011 01:05 PM

I ended up with a winderosa kit. Best price and had everything I needed

I see, I am just wondering about how much unnecessary work I should do to my sled once I start doing unnecessary work to it.

Slamdry 12-08-2011 01:23 PM

If your doing top end you kind of need to do base.
I mean I had under 200 in my top end and that was factory rings and sending the head out to be milled
but I has to do mine due to needing to find where the coolant was going.
