bought a storm tonight, pick it up tomorrow. needs motor work, couple low psi cylinders

Dirty_Harry 12-13-2011 09:33 PM

Pictures, please. Year, miles, price? You are really leaving us hanging.

Congrats, we should start a club.

blue avenger 12-13-2011 09:58 PM

don't have it yet for pics. 1997 never looked at miles as it needs motor work. $400-

Dirty_Harry 12-13-2011 10:30 PM

A 1997? Awesome. Welcome to the club.

Gotmud 12-14-2011 07:41 AM

$400?!?!? Congrats! Might be a boat anchor but its a damn good price if in decent condition even if it needs a rebuild.:poosy:

blue avenger 12-14-2011 09:13 AM

missed a mint body 650. seat and hood perfect! a broken clutch bolt in the crank, and moter in pieces with a second replacement crank. all parts / bolts separated in individual labeled bags. 1" track on it and original spare track.

thing was the guys baby not a mark on it! $225- my brother got there first :(

Gotmud 12-14-2011 09:27 AM

Wow!! I think I'm going to sell all my 650/rxl parts this winter. I have tons laying around and I don't intend on using them. Originally I was going to build a drag sled, but I think the FST has taken over that mule job.

stagesrt4 12-14-2011 09:31 AM

you guys just love those heavy ass sleds

im only 145 pounds, so those are way to much for me to keep skis on the ground

i had a 94 and a 96 storm, neither of which ive riden...oh well lol

blue avenger 12-14-2011 09:18 PM

Dirty_Harry 12-15-2011 06:20 AM

That is a 96. Unless its a 97 with a 96 Hood.

Slamdry 12-15-2011 07:52 AM

Well bought!

Gotmud 12-15-2011 07:59 AM

^^ Shithead is right, those are 96 graphics.

Madcow 12-15-2011 08:31 AM

good buy!!

since you have to rebuild it might as well do some minor port work, set the heads down some. stock they have way to much clearance. gear it down, clutch it and you should have a good sled.

blue avenger 12-15-2011 08:12 PM

plugs out and exhaust off, out side cylinders burnt at exhaust, center has pitted dome. cats and rabbit running loose in the garage so no antifreeze spilling tonight.

your right it is a 96. they told me they bought it in 97, must have been a carry over. no big deal I guess.

blue avenger 12-16-2011 03:50 PM

pistons toasted, at least one cyl has a chip in the liner. did not look to close at the other 2 yet LOL getting sticker shock!

rock2324 12-16-2011 04:04 PM

Looks like a bottom up rebuild to me. Take the crank to Indy Dan in Welch and have him redo the crank.

blue avenger 12-16-2011 04:13 PM

Sooo... with this motor it is 3 replanted cylinders and 3 new pistons? there is no boring them?

blue avenger 12-16-2011 04:14 PM

boy your pushing the price up!!!!!!!!!

blue avenger 12-16-2011 04:17 PM

lost his address

rock2324 12-16-2011 04:20 PM

I would at least have the crank inspected. Just for piece of mind......would hate to see you dump a bunch of money on a top end just to have the bottom go.:poosy:

rock2324 12-16-2011 04:27 PM

I had IndyDan redo the crank on my Dragon and it was like $300 and that included welding the case and balancing the crank. but i dont think he put on new bearings.

blue avenger 12-16-2011 06:35 PM

one has a crack.

both outside pistons are missing the rings. only one jug looks like it could be reused maybe. used motor is looking cheap, but then what might I have?

stagesrt4 12-16-2011 07:02 PM

Just buy another with good motor n part out the rest of ski

At least that's what I do

If I see one cheap I'll but it for u

blue avenger 12-18-2011 09:32 PM

any known difference between 95 and 96 jugs? found a set of 95s

blue avenger 03-02-2013 09:15 AM

Cool :( I finley finished the moter. there is no snow so so hurry. pulled it over and ir started and idled fine. shut it down and go get some antifreeze. AND now I can tear it down again! center cly with the plug out spraying all over my ceiling when I pull it over.
