Where to get bearings n seals for chain case?
I want to re-do my chain case. Im just not sure where i should go to get the parts. Or more so, what kind of parts should I get? I might as well do all the bearings in the jackshaft and driveshaft on the other side as well while its going to be apart. Anyone know of a good place to get some good parts for it? 1998 rmk if it matters.

I was looking on ebay for OEM parts.. Should i get OEM or go with something else?

Even better if there is a rebuild "kit" where i can get all the stuff in one package/deal.

Someone on here knows the bearing numbers for Polaris. Do you have an MXZ, or that wedge RMK?

Where have you been hiding at for so long?

If you have someplace local that sells various bearings and seals just bring in one of your old ones so they can measure it and they could probably hook you up.

Yep, Ive been hiding down here in stj still!!! lol..

All i got left my is my 98 rmk 700!!

The thing is I didnt want to take the thing apart until i got the new parts for it, as I might actually get to take it out for a spin within the next few days.. Its snowing right now, so hope we get a bit so i can take it out for a half ass decent ride haha

I've got a picture of Baller's bearings when he did his chaincase. Maybe the part number is on there. I took the picture to make fun of him because the brand of the bearings was "Fag." When some Chinaman named that company he didn't do too much research into the connotation of English words!

I wonder how much that costs? It just says call store for availability.

Nevermind, I clicked on "buy online" and its 25. But the way it sounds they may not have it. Im thinking ill just get that one with the ntn bearings.. Not sure why, but i want that one hahaha

I dont think the polaris ones are all that expensive if you get them from babbitts online or kens sports. Otherwise I think they might be 6205's just like the bogey wheels.

Actually I dont want the polaris ones. Id rather replace them with something hopefully better than those.

NAPA is an expensive - just not sure how good quality bearings that they sell. Something like the chaincase or drive / jack shafts - I would highly recommend using good quality bearings. NTN bearings is what I would recommend. WL

^^Don't you endorse Fag bearings? They seemed to work on Baller's sled.

Westmann, I think the Polaris bearings are NTN.

Damn, I still havent gotten this done. For some reasons I dont think the Polaris bearings are NTN.

Im seeing if my dad can get me some bearings at his work, if not im just going to buy the chain case kit with two ntn bearings and two seals and throw that in for now.

I can get away with doing this without taking the suspension/track out, correct? Im guessing its going to make it that much more harder to get the chain case off tho.

Im so confused on how these damn bearing numbers work n all the different shit ive read... Maybe someone can help if they know more about the numbers n stuff..

As far as i can tell, I need "6205" bearings for the chain case. And also the same bearings for the idler wheels.

Now, Is 6205 just a size??? Is there different 6205's that have different seals or anything else??

There are different 6205s out there. Best bet would be to try to get the same bearings as what you have now.

Ya I think i figured that out now. 6205 is really just a size but that doesnt mean alot. I think the clutch side bearings are 6205's too but different than the chain case ones. I think i am getting some nice ones from my dads work.

Anyone know a good place to order the seals? I was thinking i want some aftermarket ones. The ones in that ebay bearing/seal kit says they are dual lip seals n the polaris ones are single lip so i kinda want the dual lip ones.

I got the chain case bearings. Now I need to order some seals. Kinda what to do the clutch side bearings also, but may just wait.

Got the motor pulled since i found a broken motor mount. Then i noticed my torque stop loose. And ever since i started trying to replace that ive ran into alot of problems haha.. Gona be a little bit before i get it going again.

This is your best chance to do the clutch side bearings. Might as well just go for it.

Ya I know, be taht much easier to just do it now and not have to worry about it. I have all the bearings except the clutch side driveshaft bearing.. I got one with a collar for the jackshaft.. It kinda looks like the driveshaft bearing doesnt have a collar? Hmm

damn missed this thread while traveling... Could have saved you some headaches on the tracking of info. I have the Master Service Manuals Ver II and III.

also in future: has all the blow ups and parts numbers for polaris sleds

I can find the polaris part numbers easy, but not as easy to find the part numbers when i want a replacement other than factory parts.

I ripped my sled apart and I found out both the clutch side bearings dont have a collar, i thought at least the jack shaft one did cuz the other older ones do. I might be able to use the one I got wiht the collar on the jackshaft, But ill have to still get one for the driveshaft.

Got the chain case out and I think its fairly obvious the seal is bad haha.. Ill try to post pics soon. I ended up ripping my sled completely apart, Damn near everything is off of it.. Not that it matters, we dont have any snow left after the rain..

Fucked up the hole for the motor mount when trying to get it out, have to get it welded again and drill it out like i did when i first built this sled. Got the torque stop put back on. Decided to use grade 8 bolts instead of rivets. I think i had to rerivet it back on when i built the sled, and it obviously didnt hold up. I might have went overkill but i put some jb weld behind the torque stop just to be safe, don want another broken mount..

Going to try to bring it in to get welded today.
