Mini Muds MX career starts!

This weekend was the first round of actual MX racing for Shane. He got tons of practice last weekend in preparation which showed him what a wet track is like lol. He did very good and got 1st in both heats on Saturday to net a first place win. Sunday he came in 3rd on both heats so he ended up getting a 1st and 3rd place finish his first weekend out!

I asked him on the way home why he didn't go faster on Sunday and his response was that his dirtbike would bog if he tried going full throttle. Upon pulling off the truck I jumped on and found he wasn't kidding, there was a hell of a bog. He really fought for 3rd place and I'm surprised he did that well as half assed as it was running. I explained to him how we have to work as a machine, he rides it fast and I make sure it'll go fast. I can't make it run better if I don't know it won't go full throttle lol. After beating that into his head I believe we will do better next time. I will slowly learn what needs to be done after every single race. It was pretty dusty on Saturday and I didn't clean his air filter, only reason it ran like ass flakes on Sunday. Sure wish I'd have known lol.

I only took a couple pictures.........

Settin the bar a little high for himself. Good job!

DirtylilWolfess 05-20-2013 09:40 AM

Congrats MiniMud! 1st and 3rd are pretty effin' good results for the first weekend out!!!

How'd he come up with the X numberplates?

Gotmud 05-20-2013 09:49 AM

I forgot to get him numbers last week, so we used some tape for an easy X mark lol.:pointlaugh:

He will have numbers next race lol.

Sounds like he needs a new crew chief.

Nice job Shane!

Was Missy able to bear watching?

It's difficult to do when your not the one on the bike. Kallin has only told me one time it was bogging. I constantly have my ear turned to his bike to hear how it's running while trying to drowned out other bikes. Four strokes aren't bad, but the 50's are finicky, a little adjustment to the air screw makes a big difference.

So we showed up Saturday and Shane placed second in both motos. A couple 2 stroke atvs were racing on the track and sounded like a couple chainsaws flying around, Baller would have been in heaven lol. I was surprised that they weren't faster and got my gears to going. Got home and started pulling the old kfx90 out and got it running good, decided to see how it would do against the smokers lol.

With Shanes choke problem finally figured out after the past 2 races of bogging at the end of the race he ran strong and pulled 1st place in both motos on the ole XR.:woot:

Only one of the quads from the previous day showed up on Sunday, at least it was enough to race the kfx lol. The guy had a hard time getting theirs started and ended up missing most of practice so they never really got to practice together. I told Shane considering we were used to drag racing it if he could pull the holeshot on the pissed off bumble bee I think he could hold it. He did, and he did on both motos! I was quite surprised considering he raced a full on racing 90 open class quad, did I say 2stroke?:pointlaugh: At the start of the second moto the kids dad started asking me about the kfx and expressed his total disappointment that his built 90 2stroke not only lost but even lost the holeshot.
After Shane killed him in the second holeshot just the same he told me he'd be calling the peeps that built his engine. Shane took 1st place in the open 90 ATV class and looked more comfortable and faster on his atv than his dirtbike. Needless to say, looks like the atv is going from drag racing to mx racing lol. I'm bad about taking pictures but did take a couple.......

Who is this Keebler Elf you always reference, brother?:poosy:

Ratstang 06-04-2013 01:50 PM

Way to rip! Give him a high five from me.

Gotmud 06-04-2013 01:56 PM

^^ Probably quite a drive for you Mitch but we're racing at Redbud this coming weekend? Not sure if we're going to camp out of the trailer or drive there each day but we plan to race at least one of the 2 days, preferably both days. Load up and meet us for some camping and racing this weekend!:woot:

Ratstang 06-04-2013 07:23 PM

^^We would like to get over there to watch Shane race, but can't do it this weekend.

The keebler elf would be my strange little man-toy/pit crew/nearly husband.

Ratstang 06-05-2013 10:14 AM

Times are tough when the Keebler Elf has to downsize from a whole factory full of cookies to eat to just one. Just one is an assumption.

DirtylilWolfess 06-05-2013 09:13 PM

Not history yet. I guess.

Shane raced at Redbud this weekend. Place was pretty damn sweet as compared to Dutch lol. The little track was bigger and the jumps were also larger than Dutch. Shane was pretty intimidated at first but ended up kicking ass.

Saturday he raced his dirtbike and managed second place.

Sunday was was first place win with the dirtbike but he really had to fight for it lol. He raced the Kawasaki also and barely got 2nd on both motos to win 2nd place. Those little 2stroke 90 atv mods are freaking crazy, Shane can win the holeshot but just doesn't have the speed those pissed off bumble bees have. I'm going to regear and see what happens next time, hopefully it won't effect the holeshot too much.

I did take pictures on Sunday. Shane does holeshots quite well and his jumps and getting skeery for my lmao.:woohoo:

Powersledder 06-10-2013 09:03 AM

Looks like a fun weekend

Gotmud 06-10-2013 11:43 AM

Just thought I'd throw this out there. I will be camping at Redbud July 5-7 for the Pro National weekend if anyone wants to go? Shane will be racing as well obviously.:thumbss:

DirtylilWolfess 06-10-2013 09:15 PM

Do they have age limits for that little track? It looks like bliss!
