Front shock on rear suspension

I have an old standard suspension off a 93 xlt that has fox shocks in it. I already put the rear shock in my 97 rmk rear suspension as it was the same length.

I want to also put the front shock in it, However it is one inch shorter than the one that is on my rmk. There are two different places to mount the shock to the top arm on both suspensions. The rmk is bolted to the top one, and the xlt one is bolted to the bottom.

If I were to put the shorter fox shock in it and just bolt it to the bottom mount would it still work fine? I think it would cuz it looks like the bottom mount is one inch shorter but I am not sure if it would all work the same. If anything I think it would just have a little less travel... Anyone know for sure? Hopefully you get what I am trying to explain haha

I'm not 100% sure but I would say yes. I say take the skid out, put the shock in, and bounce on the front arm. If it bottoms and extends all the way, you're fine. I put a non RMK Fox Position sensitive into my RMK skid and it required the top mount on the front (the back worked just fine) - but those were both EDGE skids.

Well I think I might try it. Ill see how it works. .

Any idea why my suspension sags so bad? I put that rear fox shock in yesterday and it seemed like it worked great when jumping on it. It would raise back up just fine. Now today if you even push it down a little bit it sticks down. Never even got to ride it yet. The shock seemed just fine before and after putting it in. I feel like somethin isn't right on the skid.

Obviously binding somewhere.
Did you have the skid out when you installed the front shock?

I didn't put that front shock in yet but yes I had it out when I replaced the rear shock. I greased up the whole thing while it was out

oil leaking from shock now?

I haven't looked at it. I haven't even got to really ride it yet. There isn't enough snow yet

While your skid is out tear it down and clean all cross shafts and tubes. The lower shock position allows the shock to collapse easier than the upper one. I would recommend finding a shock with correct length, you'll be happier in the long run.
