1973 Polaris Starfire 650

Hey,so a friend of mine picked up a '73 sunfire 650 for 1200 bucks,he was asking me for advice on value, and where he can get parts,is it even worth restoring it?

The motor runs flawlessly, but the exterior needs some cosmetic work to get it back into showroom condition.

1.is it like other antiques, where if you try to restore it,then it will lose its value?
2.and any idea of a price range he should sell her for after hes done restoring it,if he is going to restore it

I'll give him $200 for it.

Good luck finding the parts to restore it. DO NOT let him sell it for less than he paid!

depends on how far you restore it, but id guess a nice 73 starfire to go for somewhere around 12000, but to get it there youre going to spend about well.....12000.
the parts for these are not cheap, if you just tear it down and start painting it up, yes youre decreasing value. his best option is to sell it as it is. hell double his money easy, if not triple. but once you start tearing it down you better be ready to spend several thousand to increase the value, otherwise you end up with a bunch of parts. restoring sleds is not cheap and not easy. restored needs to be A1 condition. its either sll or nothing. id list the sled for $4000 and see what happens.

^^ I agree with his price. 2 years ago I passed on one for $3600 and have been kicking myself about it ever since.:bang:
