02 YZf 250 yamaha
picked up a blown 2002 yamaha 250 YZf last night

I need a cylinder and piston.

gives me something to wrench on this summer. Hopefully it doesnt take whole summer to have it rideable.

The blown up thumpers that old are usually money pits. That being said, you can always flip them and get parts cheaply if you have a little patience. Shouldn't be a problem for you 'tall! Take pics of the carnage and rebuild!!!

i aquired the top end i needed for $150 and gasket kit for $60

also spent $18 on a manual cause i prefer to know Im doing things correct.

so now itll just be my time re assembling this beast... but yeah if need be a can get my money back easily for what i paid

will take a lot of hours but ill get it assembled at some point this summer

Original engine

valves arent too bad, mostly just covered in carbon... but ill probably get it inspected/decked

used bottom end that i hope to use Crank feels super smooth n tight. current piston was seized so ill have to make sure it wasnt due to oil pump failure.

Used cylinder/piston i just orderded for $150 from a guy that upgraded his to the 290 kit.

Something looks funky on the top of that piston. Don't quote me though. I haven't rebuilt a 4-stroke yet. But that shiny ring around the top makes me question the condition of the machine that it came from?

thats how the 4 strokes looks for valve clearance n function
