My 99 ZRT is in need of a belt and we got hammerd with snow last night and i dont live near a dealer - was going to use my buddies belt off his 97 zrt how far can I vary from the called for belt size? His is the same besides the last two digits... mines xxxxx-10 his is xxxxx-20 or vice versa... will this be okay? what do the last 2 digits represent? Im ready to get on the trail!

Should fit, length is the same. Width may be different, but you can adjust for that.

we are all given sh*t in life, but some of us learn to turn it into fertilizer and grow from it, and some us try to fling it on others like monkeys

uhm.....NO....heres the specs....i recommend shimming it to a -031

Cat belt spec's:
0627-010 47 3/4" +/- 3/16" / 1 3/8"

0627-020 47 3/4" +/- 3/16" / 1 13/32"

0627-031 47 3/4" +/- 3/16" / 1 13/32

Cat introduced the 031 belt when they came out with the 2004 models. Compared to the 020 belt, the 031 is skinnier and also a much harder compound.

then theres this..

0627-020 belt noticed my old worn belt was actually wider then the new, checked both new belts they measured 1.34" and 1.32" wide these are supposed to be 1.406" wide per Cat spec.

and this is why i use an 031...

I bought a 0627-020 at Total powersports in Gaylord nd it was at the low of the spec. I rode it for about 50 miles and the machine was running poorly. I threw some calipers on the belt and was astonished to find it was .020 narrower than the 2000 mile belt I took off.
