We took it easy today. Putzed around Toivola/South Range. Riding is like trying to snowplow concrete. It took 3 people to lift the back of my sled at one point. My skid was so packed with mashed potatoes that I had 2 inches of travel at several times. Riding is OK; it's definitely set up. There are some holes you fall in that you fall in that come to your waist. It's really hot in the trees. Tomorrow we're taking all 19 of us to Oak Bluff. Here are some pics, there's a video of me stuck and getting moving behind BFH. Speaking of BFH Rubi, Gerbil, and Cberan all made it up today. Nice job guys.

Surprised to see BFH open for business.

OB only had three tracks on it from us. Should be perfect for the gang. Heads up, the fence is up heading in near wolfies' hill-o-doom.

Group ride was a good time as always. Stayed in Rockland with Gotmud, Rubi, Gerbil and Wolfie. Rode on Saturday with all of them and IBS, Stagesex, Rock, Rock's son, Rock's son-in-law and Ultrawillie. Also met up with Jay and Mitch (I forgot your handles here) and the Berans a few times. This was the first actual ride I've had on my IQr since it was a 440 in 2010. The clutching was off and only let me rev to 7500rpm at WOT but I made the best of what I had to work with and still had a blast.

I only rode Saturday, beat my sled and myself pretty hard. End result was slightly tweaked steering on the IQr and some bruises and sore muscles. Sitting here now I don't know why I let the hangover and responsibilities hold me back from riding today. I should have went, and I pussed out. But what I was really stoked about was just making it up there and meeting up with some of you fuckers again and some for the first time. Next year I plan on taking some vacation and staying for a few days of riding.

To recap the riding. We never made it far from Rockland on saturday, farthest we went was to Mass City. By the time Gerbil clocked 26 miles on his odometer I ran through 3/4 of my 10.8 gal tank, track spin was our friend that day. We spent most of our time at the Caedonia mine, starting at the north side and destroying what was the UNTOUCHED rock hill atop the mine entrance and the lower levels around the entrance. Anyone that attempted the hill on the north side got stuck, nobody made it to the top that day, Rich and I rolled our sleds down that hill a lot lol. Rubi and Mud fought for the himark, eventually after some logging Mud finally won out with a 200cc 23" 10 year crutch. Then we moved to the south side and every one of us conquered the south hill. But of course, our fearless leader got stuck, just 2' short on another hill on the south side of the mine.

Notice how I'm pointed downhill, not stuck while I take this picture.....

Our fearless leader stuck, not sure how he managed that one.

Rubi attempted a wicked line up a shear vertical wall

A few clips I took from my phone on the south hill at the Caledonia mine.

Nice pictures, I wanna see more though and more video. I gotta get over there and ride sometime.

What are you running for clutching Bill? Try this:

EPI gold primary spring
60-62 gram belly busters

66-44-42 helix and 160-240 spring

Don't you have a 600R Tim? I should have been running something closer to a red/white primary spring.

What I was running;
10-60
Black/White primary

66-44-46
black/yellow secondary

Yep, I have an R. The primary setup will work for you, RMK-KING runs it in his HO. Its a really high engagement but man is the holeshot fun. Its a great play setup. I will also ask him what he runs for gearing and in the secondary. I couldnt tell you what mine is, never had it apart and with no snow this year havent gotten to test it. Probably stock snocross gearing and who knows about the secondary.

Engagement would be too high.

With the lowest front end and the weight of a dozer, knocking down a few things seemed like the right thing to do.

So...

From my perspective, with no real photos...I'll go for some highlights because I drank too much to remember every detail like I normally wish I didn't. Success!

I tried to get Wednesday off, but was told "definitely, you have to work on Wednesday." That sucked. I spent all of Wednesday night after work frantically trying to get my shit ready. That involved going to a last minute Birthday gathering right after work, and having a wicked arthritis attack that made it about impossible to move my arms.

I got 1/4 blitzed to manage pain and feebly packed my gear up until 4am. I decided that the skis could wait, and conked out till 7:30 Thursday morning. Then came the issue that I had no sweet assed lift system to get my sled on the trailer. Not only did I have no lift, there are no snowbanks here to use as ramps. Dammit all to hell.

I retrieved a Keebler elf to assist, and we both spent the next half hour cussing at the Wolfsled a lot. I had no studs, so driving onto the wooden trailer with it unhooked from the car didn't work either. Somehow we eventually did get the little bastard loaded. We threw it on the car, and the Keebler elf abandoned my efforts, and left to go to work.

Somehow, with more help, the Wolfsled got niggertied down onto my sweet little trailer that is not designed to haul sleds. Then I drove for 4.5 or 5 hours in freezing fog. Sled did not come off the trailer. Then I drove 4 or 5 more hours.

When Willie says "Right behind you." He really means, "I'm 2 or 3 hours behind you."

Yes, I fit in my gearbag.

Thankyou Berans and whoever else (stagsex and Rock?) helped drag my sled off the back of my trailer. I'll get a better trailer sometime.

We brought way the hell too much food.

I am very grateful to Mud, Rubi, and Gerbil (and sorta Powersledder too) for letting me have the princess suite all to myself. I was a little creeped out by the waterproof bedding. Not sure what that was all about

I was not motivated to do any wrenching that night, and am sorry I clocked out so early on the Nutz that all showed up to BS.

Gas station in Rockland doesn't open till 10:30. That means the workers show up at 10:29, so you have NO chance of getting gas before then unless you want to ride to Mass.

***How could I forget my sweet first stuck of the day?***

Mud and I finally got fueled up, and I followed him (without thinking) up over a nice snow berm into the yard. Except Mud pinched it a little bit and things got a little sketchy. Unfortunately, I was already committed to the line, but hesitated at the top of the "hill" since I was tipping over. Once things had settled down the next split second later, I pinched it, and accomplished my first stuck of the trip! I'm pretty sure Rock pointed and laughed, which was actually funny as hell. He also unstucked me. Thanks dude

There were a shitload of sleds to be had on Friday, so we decided to hit up Harry's carving field and then Oak Bluff. I was extra glad for that because I hadn't tried out any of my mods. The riser made it way easier to carve, and way harder to steer on the trail. It may get switched out for a 2" but we'll see.

Rock's son had some steering post carnage. Willie may or may not have held his own in a drag race against Mud and Cuzzi on his vintage screamer while playing air guitar the whole first heat.

TBC maybe.

So...we killed the shit out of that carving field almost, then headed towards Oak Bluff. This included a quick stop at the quarry where some cool people did some climbs. I got bored and went on to the next half of it that has the smaller hill. In a sweet carving attempt, I managed to launch myself over the bars and tip my sled on it's side to Willie's entertainment. He giggled like a little fool (he is not a very large air-guitaring fool, BTW!) when he helped my shit back upright.

**Edit**

Holy shit I forgot Jay and Beran's kickass stucks in the Rock quarry!

Jay took his gigantic piece of shit skidon't (even though he was prettymuch the only one that didn't break down or encounter any real carnage) up around a clump of trees...at least that's what his plan was except he either fell off or trenched the shit out of the entire world, because he didn't make it. That was a 15-20 minute stuck (can't exactly remember). I think Speedball Willie helped his ass out some. Right as we were getting ready to leave, Beran tried the same line Jay did, and got halfways launched off his sled. He bailed, and his sweet Fusion nosedived for that small clump of trees like a starving woodpecker. I think the only damage was plastic scratches, and that stuck didn't last as long thanks to the efforts of DCUBA and the pre-made trail that Jay created to get his braaper out through the trees.

We did some Oak Bluffing, which was fun because I knew exactly what to expect. If you take that "easy ditch line" you'll get bucked the fuck off your mount multiple times, laughed at, and helped out of three stucks before you summit that almighty thing they call the "Oh'Buff" (that's what it sounds like when you're halfway shitfaced during the planning session the night before).

Rock's son-in-law got stuck just in front of me on the way up. I think I yanked a ski for a while, whilst Gerbil stucked himself beside, and slightly behind the Wolfsled. I figured I was fucked, but with the coaching of IBS and Gerbil (and some help yanking on my skis) I drove right through Jerry's filled in trench and owned the shit out of that stupid hill that kicked my ass the previous two years. It had a lot to do with the fact that the snow happened to be the consistency of mashed potatoes. I'm quite sure of the previous fact.

After some mild hill raging and food eating on Oak Bluff, we continued on to some trails and logging roads. Some dingus (specifically, the assmin) told Gerbil to lead the way up an unknown line/trail/something-from-hell, and he gung-hoe-ed-ly braaped up. Little Beran followed him, and I took the liberty of 3rd in line up the trail. I will name this not-actually-a-trail-trail the log-step-up-trail-from-hell-trail. I'm sure Gerbs was in heaven. Little Beran was also seeming to kick all those log's asses. For myself and the Wolfsled, conditions rapidly declined to survival mode, and I'm honestly not sure how the rest of the group made it up!

At a couple points, I knew that there was no going back down the way we came up. Especially when a sweet jump-able log across the trail resulted in a 6' straight drop under my skis! Had I not had Madcow's sweet clutching setup in the Wolfsled (Meaning I panic pinched the shit out of the rest of those log-jumps), I probably would've stuffed myself into a wicked vertical stuck, gone over the bars, broken my right collarbone, and fucked the rest of the day up in a big bad ugly way.

Somehow, everyone reached the top in one piece, and the Gerbil proudly proclaimed that he was going to lead us back to the trail, since none of the shorty sleds were going to make it back down that weird inclined log covered trail from hell.

Beings as the Gerbil is a legit DCUBA member, I believed him, and followed much in the fashion of an innocent little lamb, right behind little Beran...

It was prolly the last time I ever follow that fucker when there are trees involved.

TBC again.

TBC again.
As always Wolfie, an informmable, but yet entertaining read. Great choice of words about the starving Wood pecker (now that's funny) You ride well Wolfie, and after watching how well you stayed in control of your sled after you bounced it off a huge boulder was VERY impressive.

That was Gerbil. I'm pretty sure. I just learned how to hang on just a little bit better this year!

I just want to point out Wolfie had the first stuck Friday morning and we were not even out of the house driveway! I think you lost our bet Wolfie!

We had some technical difficulties Fri. morning in the first 30 seconds of the first field we played in....The dragon steering post broke in half and had to be towed back for some minor repairs that we had fixed in about an hour and we tried to meet up w/ the rest of the Nutz but since I was new to the area and poor directions from Cuzzi altered the plan and Ryan and I decided to run some extremely rough trails but managed around 80 miles for the day. I will say Sat. was an awesome day for Ryan,Jerry and I. We had a lot of fun playing on the power lines and in some of the logging roads and back country spots we were taken too, Sorry guys, There was no way we were going to attempt that BFH hill filled with rocks so we can spend more time in the garage fixing the sleds. So if you guys call me a pussy that's fine.....I know my limitations. Just want to say thanks to Mud,Rubi,Gerbil and IBS for taking it easy on us on Sat. hope we didn't hold ya back too much from the regular schedule but I will say I was entertained watching you guys playing hard and having no fear. I hope we are invited back next year!

Oh,we wanted too stay and ride for a few hours on Sunday but Ryan must of had some food poisoning or something cause he was hurling for about 4 hours Sat. night and was in no mood to go riding. Hopefully next year if we are invited we will be less cautious and ride a little harder.....Baby steps!

Unfortunately I thought I forgot my camera at the Apt. and that's why I have no pics........very pissed cause I like to take pics of the events. Turned out the camera was in my front pocket of my bibs......damn I was pissed at myself for that.

Here's a couple pics I took.

Rock, we were all serious when we told you that you weren't holding us up. We started to feel bad because it looked like you guys were getting bored, that's why I went down to the lower levels of the mine site to try and find somewhere for you guys to play.

And yes you're a pussy for not trying the hill. How many times did we end up rolling our sleds (and ourselves) down the hill, and how much shit did we break? Answer: lots and nothing.

If you don't attempt that hill next year you will not be welcomed back again

Puuuuusssssssy puuuuuuuussssssy puuuuuusssssssy!!!!!! I was just pissed that I lost my FUCKn brakes. I was jambing to BuckCherry and having the time of my life (at least inside my helmet) ended up looseing the whole afternoon. Made two attempts at hooking up,and ended up riding around aimlessly (like that's something new) may have been a good thing that i seen Rock and son on the side of a trail, i was heading to a DNR check point. I'm pretty sure they would have been real impressed with loud pipes, no tail lights, and that while I was waiting for some means of communication I managed to have a couple beverages. I'm looking on the bright side I could have been loading the Valdez up in a box full of aluminum.
