TX or TX-L?

Default TX or TX-L?

Hey there im new to the site and new to polaris. we picked up a 1981 polaris tx340..we are a little confused about this sled. For one the guy before the guy we bought it off of used to drag race it. and has done alot of customization on it. what we dont get is it the hood and bar pad both say its a TX, now contrary to that it has all the stuff to lead to believe it was a Txl because it was liquid cooled at one time. Now it has a 340 fan in it. Did the TXs ever came liquid. also it has a slide suspension but no wheels in the skid other than the rear wheels..is this factory equiptment? The sled is in awsome shape besides the cab which has seen better days. any info would be great

My understanding is that the TX was a short track ovel racer and the TX-L was a long track cross country racer. commonly the TX-L was liquid cooled for consistent endurance and the TX was freeair for lighter weight. there was a fan version also in the TX-C

no extra idles could be right if it is the short body. not that hard for some one to have added cooling. In the beginning there was a "KIT" offered by polaris to add L/C

TX is free air, always.
TXL is liquid, always.

Same chassis though. Parts are interchangeable.

I would say my sled is a little of everything, its got a tx hood and bar pad in a Txl body with a fan 340 motor..paid 140 for it....shes a mutt lol....hoping to get it fired up today. are these sleds worth money to anybody, like are they still sought after.?

TX-C was free air, TX could be either F/A or Fan, TX-L was always l/C.
