Default !*#@!! trailing arm

I went for a ride today and when I pulled up to get gas my left trailing arm was on the ground! Again! It happened last year also. What would make the bolt keep breaking? And now I have to find a new bushing because I lost mine. The bolt didn't break clean so maybe it will be easier this time

Did you use a grade 8 bolt?

No. I think they were grade 5. Polaris says they have a bolt above grade 8 that is heat treated. Should I use it. Also should. I buy an aftermarket 1 piece bushing like I had or just use the oem 2 piece?

I wouldn't use higher than an 8, you'd probably start breaking the trailing arm or mount.

I've always used grade 8 bolts and never broke one yet...

Same thing has happened on my old XLT, broke the second time because it was under stress from the mount being bent.

Make sure that everything is straight in there before replacing bolt.

Ok I'm putting it back together. I am using oem rubber and steel bushing instead of the aftermarket plastic one. I have also upgraded to an alloy steel bolt which is stronger than grade 9. Ill see what happens when we get more snow.

make sure you use a grade 5 only....you'll know why after that 9 breaks...plus grade 8 and grades 9 are suspect counterfeit....grade 5's arent counterfeit...type in suspect counterfeit bolt head markings and read all about it....but odds are something else out of alignment is breaking that

Everything lined up. I double checked. I was getting the grade 8 bolts from a hardware store. How could they sell a counterfeit bolt. I even went as far asw to replace the steel tube the bolt threads into and made sure it lined up.
