Default Question for the Chainsaw Guru's

im looking for parts diagrams or michrofieche so i can take apart my little homelite xl. i'm having a number of issues that i want to try and work out to prolong the life of my little friend..

-gas tank leak (i think)
-kill switch in-op (i pull plug wire off)
-auto oiler line came disconected and need to run a new one.
-smoking like a nocked up crack wore..(may just be old or bad mix as im just trying to use up any 2-stoke gas i have left)
-recoil needs to be cleaned or re-wound.

other then that she still starts right up and runs like a champ lol even smoking like a whore!!! Still the best $20 i have spent on a tool yet lol

Hey Slam try this: https://www.gardnerinc.com/recons/disclaimer-lg.php

Just agree to the terms and you can put your model in there and you should find some options to look at part diagrams.

Those little xl's are tough saws I have a couple that I am working on. The smoking is probably due to the older gas or maybe the amount of oil used in the mix, you dont necessarily have to run those at 32:1 which is what I think they reccommend. With the modern oils today 50:1 is perfectly safe. Other than that a simple carb adjustment might clear up the smoking a little. There is usually parts for those too on ebay if you should need something and gas tanks can usually be sucessfully repaired with jb weld.

thanks baller i will check that link when i get home.

im not overly concerned with the smoke, it is older fuel and well its cam2 and benoiil from a atv i had that i need to use up lol (cant see wasting it, ran it in my snow blower all winter too) im more worried about the fuel leak and fixing the oil line.

and your right it is one tough little guy, i baught it used for $20 threw gas and a plug in it and it has run ever since lol. its fallen, been dropped, and has cut just about anything i put in its way lol

i found some pic on another site, going to try and take her apart tonight!

Question though, i was looking at getting something with a little longer bar and found a old blue homelite xl-12 and a blue xl 101. both around the same price. any info on those two saws? if they are any good? or stay away? they supposofly both run. i dont cut a lot but sometimes i do need a longer bar.

got the little saw all fixed up tonight, kill switch didnt work due to ground wire falling off the coil. re-connected it and pow that was fixed lol, as for gas leak looks like there was a little check valve near the top of the tank that fell out, so i just stuck a small self tapper screw in it, it fit loose so air will still get in and it doesnt leak so thats good. auto oiler was working cause tank was empty but i did still clean the ports by the bar so that should work to. as for the smoking its a old 2-stroke so fuck it lol
