Default Polaris bearings - chaincase, jackshaft, driveshaft, and idlers.

I know the Poo part # is 6205 for the chaincase, and I've found replacements for super cheap - but do I want the 6205ZZ (metal seal) or 6205-RS with the double rubber seal?

Anyone know the universal bearing #'s for the jackshaft, driveshaft, and idlers (on the skidframe, not the rears)?

Not sure .... just remember, you get what you pay for. Very seldom does cheaper equate to better.......

Do you think Poo manufactures their own bearings?

You want the RS!! ZZ will not survive(rust) in Snow conditions.
Doubtful they manufacture their own bearings.

I used generic RS bearings in my older sleds before with no failure issues. Not the China crap, but a generic bearing.

I usually take the bearings and seals up to the napa store or oriley store and have them match them. usually save a couple dollars.

polaris does not make there own bearings.

Chain case bearings last longer with or with out a seal on the oil side?
Put greasable bearing on the jack shaft secondary side?

For the bearing on the speedo side, you need the one with hole in the race to get lubrication, same on the jack shaft

From what I understand, just order the 2RS2 bearings and take on of the sides' seals out.

on the chain case the seal is on the track side of the bearing, the bearing is open to oil.

most of the bearings have a little pin hole to take in grease, by rights you should point that hole to the zerk, grease is more likely to leak out of the flanges than go into that little hole, sealing up the flanges is another good thing to do.
on the speedo i would take off the seals of the bearing themsleves on the speedo cap side, then seal the flanges, when you grease it the grease will go right into the bearing. just grease it often to keep water out of the area.

if i was really bored and had a machine shop. i would make a seal that went to the track side of the bearing on the speedo bearing, that seal would keep water away from the bearing. that way when you pump grease into the bearing and it comes out the other side of the bearing it would fill that gap between the bearing and seal, helping the bearing out even more.

I hate living around here. Everyone says not available, even at the main parts distro warehouse. It's like no one wants to sell anything - it's fuckin weird.
