Yep, there is a reason I wanted to go west lol. Last year between Christmas and New Years in the Yoop conditions were not ideal, I don't want to do that again.

I can't go to Cooke. The drive is too long and (want to leave the 26th and drive home the 30th) and money is tight with the new house. The Snowies could possibly be done but conditions need to suck in the UP.

What are your (Rich and Mitch) thoughts on the Snowies between Xmas and New Years for three days of riding IF snow conditions suck in the UP?

We focused on Tog because of the chance Rubi might go and its only 3 1/2 hours past Ten Mile. It makes no difference to me where we go. I'd like to stay out there as long as possible, but wouldn't mind being home New Years Eve. Rich likes to say he is easy...so am I and I give my voting card to him.

OK. We're not even 50% on going west and would prefer the UP because of cost. It was just an idea in case the UP sucked. I guess we'll just hope for the best and plan for the UP.

Mama's only requirement for me is that I'm not tired on NYE. If I came home on the 31st after driving 20 hours I'd be sleeping by new years. I guess that translates to me needing to be home on the 30th.

I think the Big Horns has the best snow right now. That's straight west of the black hills/deadwood/sturgis if that is closer for you dudes.

We're talking about hitting the horns next weekend for a quick 2 day trip, Quinlan and a couple other guys possibly.

I still think we're going to leave New Year's Eve morning for West Yellowstone.

How serious? We are going west on the 26th. I can't haul 4 people/sleds anymore keep that in mind. Do you guys want to follow out there or what? I'm still leaning towards Tog lodge.

You guys might want to read the snow reports on bcr and sw. There aren't too many places that sound too terribly great. We're postponing our trip we had planned for this weekend. Shitty landmine snow.

I can't read the whole snow condition report on SW because I'm not a paying member lol. I considered paying the piper just to read the snow condition threads, I just hate to.

No need to read the snow conditions. None of it is worth driving for. If you live out there it's worth it, but it isn't worth traveling. Wolf Creek by Pagosa Springs,CO might be worth the drive, but I don't know anybody that knows the area.

PS. Don't even think of paying money to those chiseling fucks at Snowest. The content on that website isn't theirs to sell!

Why not put three in the trailer and one in the back of the truck?

I'm set on going no matter where the snow is. I'm hoping for snow at Tog but if none anywhere will do.

Wolf Creek is a great place to ride but from where I stayed you had to trailer 8 miles to town for gas and 7-10 miles up the hill to ride. Witch will be just fine if that's the only place with good snow.

It may be possible to haul 1 in the truck and 3 in the trailer. I plan to use my 1/2 ton to see how it does for mileage, I think it'll do better than my diesel. I will totally admit I'm a little skeered to haul 4 sleds again after my $5500 trip last year. My diesel is my plow truck at work, if it snows my employees will need that truck. I originally intended on installing a plow on my 1/2 ton (just so I can use diesel in winter) but I haven't done it yet, and kind of trying to talking myself out of it. If there is no snow in the forcast I don't mind taking the diesel but I think the Seirra would get better mpg, I could drive faster, ride better, and $.70 cheaper per gallon than diesel.

I have another guy who wants to go to the Snowies this week. I bet I could find one more if we could find a 4-place trailer since he has a diesel. Roll out on Monday and come back on Friday.

^^ Are you against going anywhere other than the Snowies. I understand trying to save some money, but with 4 going the extra distance to say Tog would only be what $60.00 each round trip. That's the difference from Green Rock, from Ten Mile it would be less......You can use my three place if needed. Let me know in advance as I want to go through it and didn't plan on doing it until after this trip.

Rich a 3/4 ton squats a little with one in the bed and a trailer.
I'm not sure how a half ton would handle it. Might squat a bit too much.
I would venture to say a gas tuck hauling 4 sleds would get the same mileage as a diesel doing the same. If only hauling two sleds the gasser wins.
In response to $5500, mine is still in warranty.

from Snowy Range Rd/I80 to; Green Rock is 35 miles, 10 mile is 117 miles, and Togwotee Lodge is 335 miles.

Its not as much money as it is time for me, I shouldnt leave til the 12/26 15:00 (i hv gf fam obligation) and more importantly (as w/cuzz) must be back 12/30.

i do need to watch $ to and MMC are cheap. The prices out at TOG seem steep, and I blew most of my lodging wade on UP.

I am interested in 10 mile and think the extra drive is worth getting to the powder quicker, but would rather wait til late march, early april caus of time limits.

If we can figure out 4 to a truck that would be a huge deal for me cause of cost of fuel. I did 3 one time and it was almost $200 each. but I remember it being a tight fight home last year with one in truck with a v-nose. we did hav the xtra fuel but it would be really nice to have that again.

I am still hoping for the best in the UP.

I think we could work it out where we meet on 80 somewhere.

I understand now, leaving late Monday leaves you with one option. We have a room booked at Tog, but do plan on heading back here Friday morning the 30th. Your right it gets a little tight between the track and v nose. I'll do the snow dance for the UP if you do the dance for the mountains.
