Default Gray-Haired Brigade

Gray-Haired Brigade
They like to refer to us as senior citizens, old fogies, geezers, and in some cases dinosaurs. Some of us are "Baby Boomers" getting ready to retire. Others have been retired for some time. We walk a little slower these days and our eyes and hearing are not what they once were. We have worked hard, raised our children, worshiped our God and grown old together. Yes, we are the ones some refer to as being over the hill, and that is probably true. But before writing us off completely, there are a few things that need to be taken into consideration.
In school we studied English, history, math, and science which enabled us to lead America into the technological age. Most of us remember what outhouses were, many of us with firsthand experience. We remember the days of telephone party-lines, 25 cent gasoline, and milk and ice being delivered to our homes. For those of you who don't know what an icebox is, today they are electric and referred to as refrigerators. A few even remember when cars were started with a crank. Yes, we lived those days.
We are probably considered old fashioned and out-dated by many. But there are a few things you need to remember before completely writing us off. We won World War II, fought in Korea and Viet Nam . We can quote The Pledge of Allegiance, and know where to place our hand while doing so. We wore the uniform of our country with pride and lost many friends on the battlefield. We didn't fight for the Socialist States of America ; we fought for the "Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave." We wore different uniforms but carried the same flag. We know the words to the Star Spangled Banner, America ,and America the Beautiful by heart, and you may even see some tears running down our cheeks as we sing. We have lived what many of you have only read in history books and we feel no obligation to apologize to anyone for America .
Yes, we are old and slow these days but rest assured, we have at least one good fight left in us. We have loved this country, fought for it, and died for it, and now we are going to save it. It is our country and nobody is going to take it away from us. We took oaths to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic, and that is an oath we plan to keep. There are those who want to destroy this land we love but, like our founders, there is no way we are going to remain silent.
It was mostly the young people of this nation who elected Obama and the Democratic Congress. You fell for the "Hope and Change" which in reality was nothing but "Hype and Lies." You have tasted socialism and seen evil face to face, and have found you don't like it after all. You make a lot of noise, but most are all too interested in their careers or "Climbing the Social Ladder" to be involved in such mundane things as patriotism and voting. Many of those who fell for the "Great Lie" in 2008 are now having buyer's remorse. With all the education we gave you, you didn't have sense enough to see through the lies and instead drank the 'Kool-Aid.' Now you're paying the price and complaining about it. No jobs, lost mortgages, higher taxes, and less freedom. This is what you voted for and this is what you got. We entrusted you with the Torch of Liberty and you traded it for a paycheck and a fancy house.
Well, don't worry youngsters, the Gray-Haired Brigade is here, and in 2012 we are going to take back our nation. We may drive a little slower than you would like but we get where we're going, and in 2012 we're going to the polls by the millions. This land does not belong to the man in the White House nor to the likes of Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. It belongs to "We the People" and "We the People" plan to reclaim our land and our freedom. We hope this time you will do a better job of preserving it and passing it along to our grandchildren. So the next time you have the chance to say the Pledge of Allegiance, Stand up, put your hand over your heart, honor our country, and thank God for the old geezers of the "Gray-Haired Brigade."

That's all well and good, but who is going to dethrone Obama? The Mormon that believes in a complete different religion then you and 95% of the gray hairs(Who thinks that the man that saved us from sin is brothers with the devil.) If you were a true gray-haired dude like most that I know, you wouldn't vote for either one out of shear principality.

Almost any true American of any Religion could be better than Obama. Quite frankly what your religious background is has no public bearing as long as a President you embrace and embody the principals and intent of the Constitution and our founding fathers. America is based on freedoms and liberties not rules and regulations. When you decide to pit one class, one race, one economic group, one sexual orientation, one education level, etc. against another as this "administration" has done from day one you are not protecting and defending America and Americans you are in a systematic program to destroy it. When you "steal" taxpayer money to pay for programs you deem worthy and you regulate and attack ones that you don't again you are not protecting Americanism you are promoting Totalitarianism.... When you Apologize for being the front runner in the race for freedom you are not protecting Americans you are trying to weaken them and paint a bigger target on our back. All these and more are what Obama and the Democrats have done. Republicans are not the answer either, but it is the only option on the table at present and as flawed as the Republicans are they at least believe in America that allows you to have an independent idea and work for your dreams. 2012 is not a vote for a Democrat or a Republican, a vote for a particular religion, not a vote for black or white it is a vote for whether we the people want to be a footnote in history or continue to work and strive for Freedom for all.

As for not voting for either that is just giving up your rights as an American and you deserve whatever fate befalls you.

If as a nation and a person if you want better politicians and leaders we must DEMAND them, and hold accountable those who are not, by not ignoring or excusing their mistakes and lies and voting them out of office, voicing our objections, and participating in our government as was intended by our founding fathers. We must also hold Media outlets accountable on both sides right/left to give us the facts not their opinions and all of the facts not just the ones that help their ideological thinking. Both Republicans and Democrats are the way they are because we let them get away with it.

People always say, if you don't vote then you are giving up. But would do you do if you don't like either one? What do you do when you go into the voting booth and there are two people running for office that you have never seen there names before, just running for a seat for the county board? But you have no idea of their view or what they stand for. Anyone who votes on that position is part of the problem if you ask me. Now take and flip that around you know allot about each one but you don't agree with either one. How can you vote for one? Also don't forget that Romney wants the socialized healthcare that Obama wants. Don't let your memory forget, just look at his past, he's just like Obama.

I'm tired of politicians making a career out of the government office. There should be term limits on everything, another thing is how these guys are becoming millionaires making 100,000 grand a year. Corruption is everywhere, and they will never give up their cushy jobs.

I used to be a die hard republican all my life, but now I hate them just as bad as I do the dems. Their all scabs, every last one of them.

I think most have good intentions when they are running, but when they get in, the power goes to their head and it just goes downhill from there.

I guess I'm just to conservative, and tired of the scum bags that pay in 1500 bucks to the feds, get back 9000.00 come tax time. I wonder why the system is broke.

I gotta stop looking at thread like this, it just raises my blood pressure.

All those issues are true... WE the PEOPLE must make the change.... It won't happen overnight, but if we don't DEMAND fair and honest politicians we will never get them. I'm with you, I don't agree with either side currently, but I also know the choice before us is vote against Obama or vote for the elimination of America as a nation( not voting is the same as voting for elimination). The Media (left/right) has also become the enemy of the People by not reporting just the facts.
Being a citizen of this country requires work and responsibility that most will not do, because the government for the last 50 yrs has been telling and indoctrinating people that they are ENTITLED to a "free ride" and someone else will pay for or do it.

Our current politicians should raise everyone's blood pressure.

We both live in Illinois, so our votes don't matter and you and I both know it. If you think they do, you have the wool pulled over your eyes. The state of Chicago decides the fate for the rest us.
Obama will get the electoral's for Illinois and in the end, that's the only thing that matters.

Oh I know that all too well, but I still vote.... Chicago is a cesspool of entitlement losers, especially C(r)ook County... There is a reason the Chicago mayors went to jail and the next one will too before it's over... Personally I would love to give Chicago to Indiana or bulldoze it back into the Lake again....
