Default Riding around Denver

So it looks like I'm going to be in Denver for a weekend late March and the opportunity to ride for an afternoon may present itself. Anyone ever heard of good riding around there or what to watch out for as far as rentals/guides?

Not sure if you've been to Denver before, but any real terrain is probably at least an hours drive away. Haven't ridden out there before, just skied. Do you know where, in general, you'd be riding?

Vail Pass but like Mookie said, about an hour west. Rabbit Ears I thought was better riding but have to drive alittle further. Ive also heard Granby has good riding.

Vail had rental sleds where we parked, there was nothing at Rabbit Ears. Maybe Steamboat which is 20 miles from RE has rentals.

There are rental places in Steamboat and I have ridden from a guide/rental operation up in Rabbit Ears but that was 10+ years ago so they could be closed. If you only have an afternoon I wouldn't suggest that because it is a few hours one way from Denver to get there.
