Give us a holler when you get to Alpine and we'll meet you up in Pine Creek Pass. It stays light until 7:30. We'll go for a rip for a couple hours when you roll in.

How about if we call as we're rolling past Baldy Knoll or Canyon Creek Butte?

Not much riding there. Baldy Knoll is right above your motel though.

Getting antsy in the pantsy to ride that new machine?

There are several places to go that are within 15-20 miles of Victor.

It's going to be a long ride out there.

Thought if riding is close and Mud wanted, I could drop him off to ride. I'd go get the sled and meet back up with you all.

Snow should be deep. Has it been wet and heavy snow?

What's the problem? We didn't think you were checking in until Saturday. If those guys are going to be here on Friday, they'll need a place to stay, won't they? What are you blathering about?

It's snowed 30" since we got here. The vast majority of it has been powder snow. Trouble is, a huge warmup on Thursday and Friday of last week totally reset the snowpack. It was a shiny, icy glacier after the warmed up snowpack froze. Since the warmup, it snowed 8". There was some serious wind the first day of snowfall though. Most of the mountain was blown off down to ice. There were spots snow could be found, but good snow wasn't the rule. We skied a shitload yesterday because it was bluebird. It was zero degrees in the morning, and all the new snow stayed dry.

Today it started snowing in the valley in the morning. It snowed until noon, and then it drizzled and rained in the valley until about 7:00 PM. You could see where the snowline was all day. It looked like about 6,800 feet. I found about 4" of fresh up in Pine Creek Pass tonight. That means there was probably 6 or 7 inches up higher. Now, we've got a serious blob heading toward us on the radar. It could really slam us with snow tonight. The forecast is calling for a bunch of snow the next couple days, but we're taking that with a grain of salt. It seems like John Dee, and his overly optimistic snow forecasts, have followed us out here. The silver lining is that any snow we get now should stay nice at least until Monday because temps are going to be chilly up in the mountains.
