would there be any interest in a pump gas sled shoot out? I think i can pull it off here using my timing equipment and making a nice ice track.
no entrance fees might keep me from having to carry insurance. I can work with the atv club over the summer as well.
rules would be simple, must use pump gas, the easy way I think to test this out would be to have a course on the lake, simply drive the sled down to a preset spot and back. possibly doing a couple sleds at a time for honesty sakes? we can figure something out.
if you want to blame someone for cheating, we can check your sled first, then there sled.
I would use ice for the race as a snow track gets pretty beat in no time. ice gets chewed up but it is still hard and fairly consistant to a trail sled.
a cc is a cc, if you have an stock apex,, you run against stock t cats and other 1000 cc sleds. if you have any mods you run improved stock.
speed tracks or shaved lugs are ok as long as you have carbide tipped traction.
there is no seperating twins from triples.
cans, reeds and intake mods are not enough to consider improved stock, light weight hoods and other parts are still stock class.
any sled with nitrous would be in a lake racer class according to engine size.
turbos are automatically open unlimited class.
studded and non studded classes and then stock and improved stock.
have carbide studs, they can be sharpened but no steel ice pics or chisels unless they have carbide tip.
must be a trail looking sled, can have lightweight suspension parts, but must retain stock ride hieght.
no weight rules,
basically a run what you brung kind of race that has some classes and only few rules.
is there any possible interest in this?
since there wont be entrance fees to let it grow for a couple years. bragging rights are what you go home with.
professional sleds will be classed accordingly to cmsa classes. what the goal is would be to get a bunch of trail sleds having a day on the ice for bragging rights and not having to compete with a pro ice sled.
