hey all I'm saying is that this is a hp thread. And yamaha is making a 150 hp sled without turbo and other spendy stuff that is rock solid. The wieght debate was a good arguement a couple years ago. But with polaris and artic cat making sleds at the same wieght its a mute point now. In the last amsnow shoot out in the snow cross class the yamaha was faster top speed than the polaris. And in the 1000 cc class the heavy and under powered apex had a faster top speed than the all mighty f cat.
how many horror storys have you heard about the yamahas vs recalls and reflashes and updates, bad cranks and what not from the other company's?
if it bothers people so much to have there 2smokes picked on just because the righting is on the wall but they cant reed don't mean you have to get upset for likeing a company that is leaving you in the dark. Come on over to the light side guys, pretend you died and walk to the light.
You know what I really don't like you. The reason I don't like you is because you sound like an asshole when you try to make your points. So just for your personal reference, remember that I don't like you, cause next time you need help on your four-stroke yammi and you will need help, I won't help, cause your an asshole.
Yes, does Yammi make a good sled, yeah they do. Is it the end all? No, it isn't lightweight, and the performance is superbly average. Yes it's 150 HP, but it isn't all there is to a sled. Clutch setups and gearing are important, low end power and acceleration. Also can I make mention that you need 1050cc to make 150 HP. Your in an entirely different class. I remember when a piped Ultra at 680cc would put out a real 145 HP. The Ultra has 4.69 cc per horsepower. If that ratio existed in you 4-stroke you'd make 223 HP. Wow, talk about under achieving.
ok, 650 i am very sorry you feel that way, but you have to trust in the fact that you like me!! trust me when i say this!! I am a smart mouth not an asshole noone is brought to this site because there an asshole.
6.48cc/hp on the stock 96 ultra, 6.67 cc/hp on a stock apex. take the cc divide by the stock hp.
the apex wieghs more but rides better and electric start with stock reverse it is a long distance trial riders dream. very comfortable ride that is very easy to transition to stand up.
for the hp thing you can spend 600+ dollars on an ultra for triple pipe new, toss in 300-600 for porting and head mods to add some snap and hp to compliment the pipes. to gain about 45-50 trail ridable hp.
for the apex i can spend about 700+dollars on a nitrous kit and 300 for the controler box to operate the efi/ignition system when i hit the nitrous, i can safely run 75 hp shot of nitrous on the trail. and when not on the button the sled is running bone stock. when you arent using the hp of the pipes on the ultra you are still running the new jetting and other changes.
the actual out the door sale price of a new apex is pretty close to relative to an out the door price on any new older sled when you configure in inflation. plus the yami warrenty is pretty darn good. granted i never need it because i just go out, turn the key and ride, put in gas and go.
you guys will see the light and be like luke skywalker, dont go to the dark side luke,
what has polaris given you lately to argue 08 model vs 08 model? the lake racer dragon 800? pffft even you guys are bashing that so how can you bash me and bash that?
ROFL, this is turning into an intellectual challenge. It's almost like I'm debating Madcow here.
Okay, your numbers are still wrong. The apex is running 1050cc and running 150 HP. Which comes out to 7cc/hp. The Ultra stock is about 105 HP and still comes out to 6.47cc/hp. My 650 even comes out to better cc/hp numbers. Let's face it Yami left a lot to be desired in HP, and the name of the topic is For the HP whores... Yes could you put a turbo on the Yami and make up this lackluster performance, yeah, could you put nitrous on and pretend your a ricer, sure. But there is one problem you still have and that is the Apex gearing and the clutching that you don't have to beat the Ultra. But the fact is I'll take my old iron any day of the week.
Also you know what Polaris has given to me to argue lately? The company has given me a point to argue, that point being why they don't revive the triple/triple and stomp AC, Ski-doo, and Yammi in one swoop. I'll argue with my old iron until you can beat it. Sound good.
Oh, by the way got to see a piped Ultra lay waste to a poor little Yammi four-stroker this year and everytime I think of it I just kind of feel something pull at my heart and it makes me feel that all is right in the world.
