Default Hey IBS! A comment on registration

Is there a way to make someone's location a required field when they register? I'm not interested in someone's address or social security number. If they post, eventually it becomes apparent whether they're a bitch or a dude, generally how old they are, and eventually we figure out what they ride too. It is annoying though, when there is no indication where someone is from. Especially when there is a classified ad posted it's necessary, and to me the most interesting and important information about someone who registers is where they're from. I don't think it would be too invasive of someone's privacy, or make paranoid people fear identity theft, if we required a State or Province for location when someone signs up.

Anyone's thoughts??

People could always just put whatever in that field. Maybe a drop down with all the States an Providences or Territories.

Haha.. I agree we should have a drop down thing with a required location. I know what your saying, i hate when i see a classified and it dont show where they are from and they dont note of it when they post.

Cuzz's former entry is a good example. People can put whatever in there unless it's limited as in a list of selections.

BTW I agree this is an irritating feature on a bunch of forums. Anyone not putting up where they are from generally gets ignored out of hand by me.........

Yes, it can be a required field, and I think in fact it is. Unfortunately it is easy to circumvent this by just putting a space, a dash, or "fuCK YOU" in there. I will mess with it and try and add it to the quick info drop down I have for current sleds/years wrenching/etc.

How's that?

Sounds good to me.. What will happen if you change it now, what will happen to members now that dont have anything?

But what do you mean the one for the years wrenching drop down etc? There is no drop down for those things.

Click the blue box on anyone's name under their title... yours for example is "700 twin", click the blue box that says "westman995's info".

Would be a good idea, the only problem is that his idea of later is a month.
