Default handlebar hooks?

wich are better, 45 or 90 degree?

since I havent done much off-trailing I never really needed them, but now that I am riding in MI. I should add them, right?

and I am only 5'7" I was thinking a 2" riser, should that be good or should I go higher?

Go with the 90's.

The riser is personal preference. I say something tall enough that allows you to stand straight up WITH your snowmobile boots on.

I have 45s on both sides of the dragon. Both wedge sleds have a 90 on the right 45 on the left. I only notice using them on the twisty trails though, I don't think I use them off trail.
As for risers, I'm 6'4" and have 5.5" risers on both the dragon and RXL. I just ordered an 8.5" riser for the dragon though as the 5.5" isn't tall enough. I tried 3" risers on the RXL before the 5.5 and it wasn't enough. Unlike the hooks the risers do help off trail. Really gives leverage to throw your sled on it's side.

IMO the hooks are personal preference. I do not think they are that important. Risers on the other hand are a must. Make sure you you have enough rise so you can stand up straight comfortably. If you do not have enough rise, you are going to be leaning forward when standing and your balance is going to be off. You need to be able to move from one side of the sled to the other while standing.

I would have a hard time telling you either, its a very personall thing, your hands might be very comfortable with a 45 while the next guy might say 90 is the only way to go.

for the riser, 2-3 inches would probably work great. at 2 inches you shouldnt need any throttle or brake extensions?

I had them on other sleds but I dont know if i would ever put them on again. i always find my hand with the end of the bar in the palm of my hand, so i should be using them. the only thing is that the 90s would hit my knee and the 45 degree would bump a rib if i slid forward while turning hard.

I can't really figure out what hooks are for. I've never needed them.

for rocks arm length i dont think he would like them? for my longer arms the 45's were comfy to reach another 4-5 inches out there so i didnt have to have my elbow tucked in. but rocks arms are a lot shorter than mine so i would have a hard time seeing him reaching out that far comfortably?

I prefer the 45's, but it's really up to the rider, same with riser. My escape has factory 3.5" pivot riser with Escape bars - RMK has 4" with Polaris bars .... both feel a little short, but not enough so that I'm changing anything.

I don't conscientiously use hooks except as a location reference. Hand feels hooks and knows I'm running out of bars. Now on Phazer, I did use them for more leverage. Having arthritis in both hands, it's nice to have them to help me keep grip now and then.
