Default Indy 400 bogging

I went out for a ride yesterday, and I was having trouble with the 4 hundy. I put my new fuel line on, and the crap that went through there when I started it looked horrible. It was a chunky emulsion that looked like suntan lotion. Then I brought it in and warmed it up. After that, it looked like there were lots of water droplets mixed in with the fuel.

When I got out on the lake, it had a nasty bog to it when I'd hit the throttle. It idled fine, and at full throttle it was good, but when I hit the throttle it was terrible. For awhile, if I put it on half choke, I could get through the midrange and it would run well at high throttle. When I headed for home, I needed full choke to get it to run. When I got back, it seemed a lot better. Today I started it, and it seems fine.

Is this a lean bog? Could water in the gas cause a lean bog? Should I just add some heet and run it through and see what happens? (What color heet? Red or yellow?) I'm sick of gas always going bad. I'm sick of taking carburetors off all the time. Will raising the needle take out that midrange bog?

Advice and comments please.

You do have a fuel filter don't you? If it's running good now then I'd just pour some heet in it. I just love my little 400 lol, great little sled.

water causes scoring and lean condtion. by having to run the choke the engine is telling you it needs fuel.

How do you summerize?

Use the red Heet. Drain the tank though, a $10 electric fuel pump from the auto parts store does it for me all the time on all my machines. Put a filter on, put some seafoam in the new fuel, and have fun.
You don't have to flinch for me to know that you're scared.
