I mean. with the 40-52/34 i get to 8, just have a half an inch left for shift out on the primary. maybe i should take it down to the #2 and see?

only issue i have is (could be snow conditions) that it will hit 8 until the track hooks up then dogs down to 7500 and then slowly climbs back to 8. maybe it's sucking the belt down in the secondary too soon?

ah, so if you are on hard pack trail you can get to 8, but in the powder if its spinning in the powder and you come across a hard trail keeping it pinned it bogs down then comes back.

for full shift out, you dont really want your belt running right to the very top. a 1/2 is good for a trail sled, if you run right to the top is when you start blowing belts, if you are running that often to the top then you should gear up.

yes this is the setup that slp recomended you but maybe in the conditions you are in its not the best setup?

yeah, for some reason it isnt backshifting correctly or fast enough. what if you kept that helix, put the spring in hole 1 and dropped to 58 grams?? its just a matter of mixing and matching unitl you get it. I still like the r-11 with silver blue in hole 1-2 or black in hole 1-2 then dial in the rpms with the weights.

i don't think i'll make saturday. but i'm going to swap out the helix this afternoon and let you know how that goes.

so what would a 48/34 give me vs the R-11 45/34 (maybe 36?)

the r-11 will have less aggresion out of the hole, but you are in loose snow so you wont really notice it. but it will help slow the shift down some so the sled can maintian rpms.

for the heck of it make sure that the primary rollers are all good. one of them getting a little rough or sticky can cause some hang ups.

If you want another helix to try I've got an R8 (50/34) that I pulled out of my RMK, ramps are a little rough but still usable.

the bang out of the hole, toss in a straight 36 and some 64 gram wieghts with a silver blue on hole one, you will have snap.

i wouldnt take the silver blue to the tightest setting, i would drop weight and then run it at a looser setting first.

slp's kit is a quicker kit, big helix and lighter weights for that quick burst. but for off trail i wouldnt mind seeing you try a 46-38 or straight 36 or 38 helix, polaris black secondary or even the silver blue and then 60 or 62 grams. the softer secondary spring will allow more shift out, the smaller helix angle has more natural belt bite, the bigger weights will make the sled smoother.

bring it to ernies on saturday and we can do some tunning. I will bring my tools and parts and you can bring your parts.
What? There you go again, giving free advice.
