No not yet, I am going to tackle it Thursday. It gonna be a bitch! The silencers are right in front of the crankcase.

just don't over torque the chaincase bolts. and use some Black silicone at the top of the chain case to prevent leakage...

still dont understand, other than cheap factory costs, why polaris couldnt fuse the gasket together and make a nice gasket.

I got the cheque headed south to Madcow for some clutch parts. Hopefully they get here before Christmas for a few days to have fun! Madcow, let me know when it gets there and I'll give you my mailing address. Until then I'll put the spring in the 4th hole and see how it reacts. It should improve a bit.

Question....can I adjust my idle with my air box removed? My big frickin mits won't let me even touch the adjustment screws. Its idling at 3000 right now and should be about 1500.

Parts arrived today!!!I'll be installing them tonight and hopefully testing new years day. Thanks again Madcow for all your help

Hopefully I can replace the primary spring without removing the clutch from the machine. A guy told me it can be done by first marking the cover, removing the 6 outside bolts evenly and slowly. For reinstallation using a pry bar to compress the spring to get the bolts started. Then tighten evenly and slowly. Any input on this method??

simply remove all 6 bolts, the cover will only come off so far because the main bolt is still holding the cover on. then remove the main bolt, as it comes off so will the cover.

you can then wiggle the cover out between the spring and belly pan, you can thread the spring out the hole, thread the new one in. wedge the cover back into place, then by pushing on your rachet install the main bolt, there is an x on the cover and on the spider, or make your own marks. once the main bolt is snug then you can put in the 6 bolts tighten them up, then torque the main bolt. its like 45 lbft or something close to that.

That makes sense and sounds a lot easier. We'll see how things work out.

All said and done it took me about 2 hours. Not too hard to do either. Noticed the new primary spring is about an inch or so longer than the old one and a hell of a lot stiffer. Tested engagement and I'm now engaging at about 5150 +- a few. I'll do some actual testing to see what it shifts out at hopefully on new years day.

Hey Madcow, I couldn't remember where you said to install the spring so I put it in the 3rd hole. I figured that would be a good starting point to work from. What do you think? Everything in the primary looked to be in good condition. My weights have a 15 stamped in them. I don't know what brand they are though. Maybe some of you guys do.

15 means nothing to me, just some aftermarket weight.

I was doning some readings last night and found some Polaris weights with a 15 stamped on them. If it is these, the weights are 55.5g. But who knows without actually weighing them.

if they are a true 55 gram you might still be low on rpm, I am guessing you are going to want some polaris 10AL they are 53 grams, but that is why we did this how we did, so we know what we are doing!

Finally the temp starting climbing today and I got out for a test. Besides the fricking plugs fowling the sled pulled really good(see new topic for this thread PLEASE). It was shifting out at about 8500 so I'm thinking if I move the spring to the 4th hole it should be good. Its in the 3rd hole now. What do you guys think?
