Default Dirt-y bike. The Ninjette Lives!!!

First street ride of the season yesterday. Cold as everything, and the ailing bike died a couple times, but it was great to be back on two wheels again.

Since I was feeling very productive today I blew off painting the house and called up Cornfed to go for a ride. We managed to put on about 175 miles this afternoon and I averaged about 35 mpg. God bless Yammi four strokes.

Actually picked it up through a Crashedtoys.com auction for about 900 bucks. I put about 400 dollars into it, and at the time, it purred like a kitten when we got it back together (or maybe a baby tiger since the douche that had and wrecked it had tore the That's not a terrible price for a 2005 with roughly 4000 miles on it...

My plastic repair work is far from professional, but nothing has cracked or fallen off in the miles I've put on. Unfortunately, I am thinking that the previous owner never added or changed the oil. Ever. There have been metal shavings in the oil filter at every oil change, which I do every 1k (sometimes less)

I average about 68 mpg, even with the bike half blown up and at (erm..."just above") interstate speeds, but I'm willing to bet that you probably have a bike that has over twice the displacement of mine.

About 171 miles into this season, I've already been through two pretty shitty cagercaused incidents. This log isn't looking great thus far, but I'll rant for ranting's sake anyways.

The first dumbass was the pilot of a semi. He pulled into the right turn lane, and seeing this, I figured he would continue on to the right, as the two semis in front had done. As I started pulling into the left turn lane, said dumbass hooks a left, crossing and blocking all three lanes. No warning, no blinker, nada. I am pretty sure I hit at least an 11 level clench on the sphinctometer scale, and I am also pretty sure there was some serious divine intervention involved. I have a couple flattish spots on my tires now from locking up the brakes, but I wasn't decapitated, and didn't make contact with the truck at all. I felt lucky to be around to complain about it.

The second incident was this evening, and it both terrified me and turned me into an incredibly angry person. I was in the Walmart parking lot, waiting to for a minivan to make the turn into the lot so I could take a left on to the street. She glances my way, we make eye contact for a split second as she starts turning in. She's got one hand up by her ear...just my luck. Then, WHILE GABBING ON HER FUCKIN' CELL PHONE, looks AWAY from the direction she's turning (not just a glance to check for traffic...) and proceeds to swing into the lot.

I dumped the clutch to try swerve out of the way, but it wasn't quite quickly enough. I had made the dumbass mistake of trusting the eye contact, and it kicked my ass. There wasn't really even time to say "oh shit" before the ninjette and I got knocked over. She had sorta stopped, but only long enough to FLIP ME THE BIRD, then floor it off into the parking lot as I frantically tried to get my leg out from under the bike.

More errors on my part included the fact that I didn't try get her license plate number. Some may call me a dumbass for not doing it, but I was more distracted by the exhaust that was getting incredibly roasty against my leg. Once I got things stood back up (with the help of a guy that stopped) and looked over, I found the evilsoccermombitch to be gone. No surprise.

The ninjette appears to be only scuffed up. A few of my plastic repairs had broken, but the rest looks no more crappy than it did before. I did have to replace the headlight bulb when I got back to the place I've been half bunking.

I am kinda tender from getting all close and cuddley with the pavement, but no serious damage on my part either. I am absolutely livid over the whole mess. The PD never even sent a squad car my way; they just gave me that that ever comforting (note heavy sarcasm) "we'll keep an eye out."

Fuck my life...Can I have some normal and boring please?

(Rant over).
