I have been tossing around the idea of putting a pipe/silencer on skidmark. I was told on Dootalk that I would see about a 5 hp gain. What do you guys think.

Ah, you won't see a 5 hp gain with a silencer, just ain't going to happen. Power is made in the pipe, and the silencer won't kill power.

I'm not sure if that is an SLP pipe, there is very little description...

But even if you do put the pipe on are you prepared to rejet and reclutch, this isn't just $100 investment.

Also how do you think it will make his sled run cooler? If it truly is an aftermarket pipe you'll find that most pipes they prefer to run hotter because its an easy way to crank up RPMs.

I was under the impression that I would not have to rejet with a pipe.

You really thought you didnt have to rejet for a pipe? I thought you knew that. You can usually get away with not having to rejet if your just switching out the can. Maybe that is what you were thinking of. Either way, i would have bought that thing. Im sure theyre atleast 4x as much new from slp, just guessing tho. And a single pipe would be pretty nice rather than twins, wouldnt be quite as finicky with the single.

I don't know if he would have had to rejet, he should have hopped on Dootalk to ask. That sled is dpm which should mean that he'll never have to rejet that sled even with aftermarket parts on it.

^^ Very good point, you gave up too fuckin easy Harry. Most pipes made for Poos cfi don't require any ecu changes.

Supposedly you don't have to rejet up to 14k feet. Jay's sled wasn't pulling more than 7000rpm in the Snowies in April but he thinks he had a clutching problem.

I never have had to rejet my Summit, although you can tell when it's at it's limits. My summit used to run rich as hell in the spring. As far as going up high I know I was at 10K and never had any troubles with jetting. Change the ramps and spring in the clutch and load it up and you're ready to go up high.

Ah, I had no idea Ski-Doo was implementing this technology. In that case I apologize Harry for bad info.

My sled is EFI and you need a controller box with certain pipes. SLP is the only one you don't if that makes a difference.

I don't know much about DPM the only sled i've ever had with a DPM is my 99 Summit. I haven't really researched it that much because my race sleds don't have it. There are a lot of mtn guys on snowest that have pipes and such on their sleds and I've never seen anything available for add on computers so unless those guys are doing dpm delete they must work.

Ah ya i forgot about that dpm crap, dont know much about them really. But its not like an EFI sled where you usually have to upgrade/change the computer or something to make it work with pipes. I think its more of one of those like variflow or similar things, (well i think thats what theyre called, i forget)

Wouldn't you have to recalibrate the baseline jetting for DPM if you got a new pipe? Variflow or DPM just adjusts for temp and elevation according to the baseline jetting you establish. If a pipe changes the jetting, it wouldn't account for that.
