Default help with brakes

hi guys,
i have a polaris colt 340, and am in the process of trying to change out my brake pads. I have the whole chain case out, and am using a puller to get the inside drive clutch off of the 2 sealed bearing units. (rest of drive clutch already taken off). I am to the point know i have so much pressure on it i am afraid the cast alum is going to give. Does anyone have any trade secrets for getting this off? Please help

I'd like to offer some advice, but I don't know what you're talking about. I don't know what an "inside drive clutch" is. Where are the "sealed bearing units?" I thought you just unbolted the brake calipers, and replaced the pads when necessary? Maybe this is a vintage thing that I don't understand.

hi, one of the sealed bearings is on the chain case, and the other is of the other side of the disk brake, they are all on the same spline as the driven clutch, and need to be pulled off. by taking the driven clutch assembly apart and the spring, you are able to get half of the "pulley" where the belt rides off, but the other side is attatched to the brake assembly still.

I wish for the life of me I could remember how that chaincase is assembled. I haven't taken one apart in 15 years. Can you post some pictures? Rubi, it's a vintage thing. They didn't think things through very well back then, like the John Deere's that use the clutch as a brake drum.

So the brakes are on the clutch side on that sled? Here's what I'd do to try to get that clutch off. First I'd hose it down with Schaeffer Penetro and then do some light tapping with a hammer to try to break some stuff loose. Then I'd ice down the steel shaft to get it to contract some. Light heat on the aluminum, to expand it, and then give it a try again. Is there a way to put some wood blocks where the puller contacts the aluminum to try to disperse the force over a larger area? I don't know what I'm talking about, but nobody else was posting.

Come on. All you've got to do is give the new squirt a swat on the ass so he/she develops some good lungs, then tell the ole lady "good job," give her a peck on the cheek, make her a peanut butter and honey sandwich, and hop in the jeep. Give her a call and be nice on the phone when you hit Wisconsin, and then again when you hit Michigan, and you should be good to go.

No jackshaft on these, the 2ndary runs on the chaincase. That's all I can remember right now.
