Default Snowy's April 15-19

Just starting this thread for a designated spot to discuss the possibility of this trip. I am up for it but suggest not making any real firm plans until it is closer and we can judge how conditions will be. With Snowy Mountain Lodge closing, and there being no gas on that side of the range, I would just suggest staying in Centennial or even Laramie since we are going to have to trailer for gas anyway. More restaurants, bars, etc. down the mountain. Opinions?

If one is going to stay "off the mountain" and wants to be closer to the good riding, how about staying on the backside - Saratoga or Ryan Park.

Probably adds at least another hour to the trip wouldn't you think?

Being in the truck another hour on the trip in from IL seems a small trade-off to be closer to the good riding areas. Stay in Laramie and one is going to spend more than an hour each day with getting gas, trailering up, parking, unloading, riding 30-45 minutes to get to the good stuff and then riding back to the parking lot, loading and driving back down for the night.

Is Kremtucky out of the running?

Is the riding better from the other side? Can you ride from where you stay? Is there gas? Restaurants? I'm up for something new if it makes our lives easier.

I think Fred might be interested in this trip. Possibly Ken.

When Keith says "better" he is talking about steep and deep. My understanding is that the best riding is out of Green Rock. I have not been everywhere in the range but that is what everyone on Snowest always says. I assume they know. I am up for anything new also. I am also up for Rabbit Ears if we end up trailering everyday. Snowys are closer and easier to get to. That is why we were discussing there for an April trip, Anything more than 5 days and I am out. One day there, three days riding, one day back.

Yep. Throw caution to the wind and live the day like it is your last. I took an avalanche class so I am now invincible.

A mix is good. Nothing wrong with hills if you're smart about it.

I just found out last night that I have a comittment that is going to prevent me from making this trip. Guess I should have checked with the boss first. The four place is available if needed.

Guys not sure on snowies condition, but it looks like a repeat of last year further West. Icy layer near ground is making it pretty treacherous from what I'm hearing. May know more next weekend. I think with enough painkillers shoulder might handle a 1 day riding session if I take it semi-easy on it.

I'm gonna get some riding in this season even if I have to ride trails and hate it.

I've been present a few times, just didn't feel the need to post.

Trying to help out, seems Snowies may be only area in WY with decent snow right now.

Really been a screwy winter out here this year.
