We ended up getting a decent dump of snow, but it didn't match the hype. We got 4 or 5" three different times, and I'm going to call it a foot. It's a far cry from last year when Alexandria seemed to get the most snow out of every snow event. Seems like the Dakotans, including Wolfie, got the brunt of this one.

Here's the DCUBA staging area before the storm:

If the football posse doesn't come over to watch the NFL Sunday Ticket, Gerbil and I are gonna go tear up some snow this afternoon. We'll report if it's worth squat for riding on.

Here's the 4x4. The snow on the bumper indicates just how deep we were pushing.

Man...I need a haircut. Grain scoop and waist deep push pile.

Too bad you dont have a sled.

Very happy with the Switckback. Defiantly a learning curve compared to the Yamaha.
Leaving Tues. for Isabella for new years. Should be a good time.

Snow was actually pretty good today. The powder on top almost floated the sled, and the base snow wasn't hard enough to be jarring. You had to pick and choose spots to carve, but carving conditions were available. Actually had some long sections of carving in certain spots on the lake. The bad news about the lakes is that the ice racers aren't going to be happy. All that beautiful, hard, smooth ice now has about 10" of slush over it. I suppose the slush will freeze in the next day or two, but then all the snow depth will be gone.

Braapers at the gas station were complaining about a lack of groomed trails. The groomers had been out on the railroad bed, but on the secondary trails grooming was pretty spotty at this point. No problem there. Why should the groomers have to work over the Christmas holiday? It's not like they're getting the Interstate open to traffic or anything. Snowmobilers should learn how to ride some natural terrain now and then anyway.

DCUBA got pulled over by the Nar today. We were sitting out on the lake with our hoods up discussing speedo cable routing when we were approached by a concerned uniform. He wanted to make sure we were OK, but inspected our registration about 5 times also. I suppose he had to look a few times at my ride because I have expired tags from about 4 different States slapped on my sled in all kinds of illegal places. The last time he looked at the stickers he said, "Good job guys," very enthusiastically! I didn't think it was that great an accomplishment to have current registration, but maybe nobody else has it?

P.S. Neither Gerbil nor I got stuck today! I seem to remember powder breaking over our hoods pretty often, so it wasn't because of lack of snow. Maybe we're starting to learn how to ride?? Maybe we weren't trying hard enough??

registration is a pretty difficult task, my sled does have the right numbers on the hood, but its got the wrong vin and no state registration stickers, and the registration is expired....oops

Also Rubi, looks like the XC needs some shock work(no this isn't a danny joke) it looks like its sagging a bit.

We weren't riding in that Michigan fluff(that anyone can ride in):D
The snow around here has a 2 inch crust than sugar snow under it. Once you break through the crust. the running boards hold you up.

Well, the sled is up on a stand, so that makes it look lower. The shocks ARE shot though. When I got that XC 500 last year I was blown away how good the suspension was. That was cheap non-rebuildable shocks on there, so I'm assuming my Fox's need help if they ride WAY worse than those.

Snow is great here.
You can cross any plowed field with out a problem.
Trails where Great, no bare spots.
Ditches are deep, hard to get out of town in some spots.

Might not have to go north looking for snow.

I plan on going out riding today, try getting a few more days in??

Even after the rain, we still have more snow then we had the last couple of years.
Most of our fields are still covered.
