Default getting into drag racing

Well now that I have the IQ I am looking at turning the ultra into a race sled, I was wondering what can be done with the suspension front and back, also would like to know if I should keep the .091 track and put a 192 chisel picks in it or would I run less and a comb of picks and chisels?

What’s the first thing a person should buy?

Looks like it’s going to be a fun summer with the sled and a wrench

I have a cheap .5 lug race track for sale. it has 192 pics in it now. for the price you cant go wrong.

for drags, weight, go light weight everything. check out swapmeets in the summer, you should be able to find tons of light wieght indy stuff. I even have some short fox shocks for the front end if you want them dirt cheap. slam that sled to the ground but short front shocks and with the rear limiter straps suck up the rear. from there its test test test. if you have a good setup you might never get first. but you might be real consistant at 3-4th every day no matter what, once in a while you will go to an amature race, after getting you but kicked by the big guys all year, at these outlaw races you can sometimes clean up pretty good.

i would it be a good idea to put the stock polaris stocks back in the skid and sale my fox stock that i have in it now?
what would you want for the track and shocks?

we could measure the free length of the shocks. if these are shorter you will want them. the shorter shock gets the front end down. basically when the sled is on ice, you want to come off the drivers and have very little drop to the ice. so the track just goes down a little to come in contact with the ice, and then straight back to the rear wheels, and then over the rear wheels as level as it can to the front drivers. if it comes off the drivers, and then has to bend down around the front of the rails around the rear wheels up to the rear crossshaft, bend around them to the front drivers again. every bend is friction, friction is seconds on the clock or mph taken away.

we can try and do a cheap as possible front end. take out the sway bar all together, a brtech hood with no headlight or gague pod, you use plexiglass or buy a head light cover and rivet or glue into place.

the biggest thing is that the speed track has the short lugs to really put the pics into the ice. and then its also designed for speed sleds or drag sleds that have high hp and traction.

heck the speed track i would let this one go for 250 shipping included obo.

^^sorry but the hood isn't for sale i am a iron madien lover and if anything it hang on the wall of the garage wall.
i have a line on a 935 motor
