Default My improved stock race sled project

Just thought I would post some pictures of my improved stock race sled project. Its a 1990 Indy 650. I will be racing it in improved stock 700 classes on ice and snow this winter. It still needs alittle work I built the sled to be a trail sled but now decided to race it.

Here are some pictures of it in trail form and some pictures of the motor.

make sure you suck that extra 10 down tight front and rear. practice your launches and to make sure you have traction without to much lift.

Very nice!!

I saw a MINT '92 Indy 650 at a swap meet this past weekend. Guy wanted $1200 with an M-10 suspension in it.

The extra 10 is getting scrapped for the original eight inch suspension. I have drag raced before so I know all what to do, but thanks for the tips.

The sled looks good but you know what would make that sled look even better?
A Monster sticker on the hood! Photo shop anyone!

Is the motor finished, if no, what other mods do you have to add?
Pipes, Clutch Kit, UFO's, Bore out the carb's, etc....

Thanks guys. My fuel line got here this week, so I am going to pull the motor out again, put on the new fuel pump Riley gave me and redo all the fuel line this weekend. Getting closer to getting it running. Still on the hunt for a track and pipes though.

Motor is all together, its a 650 taken out to 693. Its a Decker Race Motor, so full race port and polished, heads cut as you can tell from the compression. Carbs are 38's tapered bored to 39.5. Clutching will obviously be done, lots of testing involved there. It will be set up for 660 feet on ice and maybe 1000 feet speed runs if I get out to MN this winter. Still havent found the pipes I want. If I dont I will either run Deckers or SLPs. But I really want to run a set of race or mod pipes that will make their peak HP at 10000 rpms.

Now THAT'S a well-built machine.

The lack of duct tape and siding makes it so nice looking.

Nice job Tim.

BACK ON TOPIC.

There are plenty of places to fuck around, and this isn't one of them.

Not much to report for progress. The motor is set back in the chassis but not tightened down. Need to locate a spot for the new fuel pump. I bought a set of shocks from Riley so those will be getting put on. Also thinking of buying a speed track from madcow, and bought a brand new set of SLP Ultra-Lite skis for it, so things are coming together. Still looking for a set of pipes. We start beet harvest on Monday so I wont have much time to work on it in the next two weeks but I will hit it hard after harvest.

The skis got here yesterday. Now I just need to weigh them and see if they are lighter than my aluminums. Here are a few pics.

Did they have any skis left?

What do those fit exactly?
