Because i'm lazy i'll just post in Polaris1man's email
Well, it is about time to gather the troops for the July 4th weekend, as you all know, the 3rd is when Nashwauk unloads its dazzling display of fireworks over the ball field that leaves the sky a blend of colors. If you are not aware, Nashwauk has its City party that weekend as well, and the normal population of 935, swells to around 10,000 that weekend, as there are outdoor bands, bars, dancing, the whole nine yards!! The same goes for the town of Keewatin, fireworks, outdoor bands, bars, dancing, etc, quite the event for these two small towns, and believe me, in the five years I've been here, it has only gotten better on the firework displays, and the town parties!!
Now, if we can keep a few of you "sponges" off the alcohol (including myself) at the town events, the plan is to get out and ride some dirt bikes and ATV's. With Brandon "side hilling Oxide" Yuhala, Jeremey (Alaska Salmon) Thurman, and the rest of his clan, plus Danny "2 stroke" Lockard and his brother, and his Thumper talk buddies, that will round out the dirt bike riders group. And for the ATV pounders, led by Ranger 6x6 Dennis Lockard (Fat A$$), and his every smiling wife Jackie, David (council member) Pritzlaff and crew, and the list of potentials; Matty (1/8th liter) Koivisto, Erik (another 1/8th liter),Terry (no show) Lindahl, Stuart (shipshape) Sommer and his crew, John (Stevie Ray Vaughn) Stanley, Louis (Blue Eyes) Baumchen, and up and coming Sam (winch out the hubby) Foster, we should have a full compliment of rubber on the trails as well. Oh yah. lets not forget about the two new thumper boys from Memorial weekend, Jonathan ( Mud Swimmer) Foster, and his Honda CR450 F counter part David (Vegas) from Grand Rapids!! There is a possibility that a gentleman formerly known as "shifty 250", who now mounts up on a WR450F might grace our presence from the Thumper Talk website, but the latest word coming from a reliable sources says he's not to keen on the Oxide hill climb that his eyes witnessed and was verified later. Oh well, I say put street tires on that bike, maybe you will get some use out of it then!!!
Now on to the important stuff, we will ride in two groups, that way if and when we stop at the Crazy Loon, we don't swamp them with orders. Also, keeping the groups separate allows for the dirt bikers to ride at their faster pace, where the ATV group will need to pull over occasionally to re-plentish their bodily fluids, and for some that will be Gatorade, others will need their daily recommended in take of Carbs and Barly Pop!! So all are welcome to attend, if you want to set up tents and camp, by all means, newlyweds like Jonathan and Sam, please tent in the Woods, rest of us need sleep, that goes for you too Dave and Sue!!! Other than that, bring your favorite refreshment and plenty of it, maybe some chips, Peanuts, Granola Bars, and any other snacks you can think of, we'll munch out on the trail. The Ranger will be the refreshment and munch unit, as well as the tow vehicle, etc. Oh yah, if you have Digital Camera's, bring 'em, I'm sure there will be something worth a pic or two!!
Hope to see ya'll

I'll be having my yearly 4th of July party on the 5th this year. This year is the 5th year in a row we've had a party. Anyone near sw mich is more than welcome to come. Lay around in the pool, watch the fireworks, eat kabobs, and drink beer.

I have spent so many years on the Iron Range for the 4th of July that I can only remember a few! Biwabik is a town just like Nashuak, population swells unbelievably and liquor flows freely. Sure do miss those days...............
