Default Back-up/Hooter Scooter/Friend Sled

Any suggestions for something good, cheap, and fun? I hope to get $3k for my Viper this coming season and wouldn't mind having a CHEAPO sled. It can be a fan or whatever. I am not sure I want to do this but it might be worth it if it was the right sled. Should I look at 440s? I might even get a Pooplaris so I can fit in with you cool kids. Can one be had for $1k?

Yep get a polaris fanner, Will be reliable. You can get one in good shape for a grand for sure.

Well would you consider an older sled like a wedge or are you talking something newer? If so, Its going to be a little harder to find something for a grand. But i think i even saw a pro x 440 fan for a grand.

Might get a 97 or 98 xcr 440 for about a grand, you will need to look hard for one of those tho. I see people ask alot more than a grand for those things. There is one on ebay right now, Its in MN tho. Bids already upto over 600, with i think around 5 days left.

Ya if you get a fan there shouldnt be any worries, if you let friends ride it, shouldnt have to worry about anything going to wrong with it.

And since its just going to be back up/friend sled, dont really need a ton of power anyways. Plus its really light.

That is what I am thinking. Any years I should stay away from? I found one I have my eye on and am waiting for a response. Might be a nice deal if he wants to do a partial trade.

What does it weigh?

I couldnt tell ya if there was a year to stay away from, If you want a decent ride, look for a 95 and up, or possibly lower, Not sure which sleds all have the xtra 10, But best bet is get one with xtra 10 skid. If you want to check if a sled has xtra 10 you can usually find out on http://polarisman.com/ or you can check weight for most sleds too, it doesnt show it for all sleds tho..

Click specs and its pretty much self explanatory.. What year/model are you looking at now? Whats the partial trade?

Like a 98 488 fanner, it weighs about 466 pounds according to that website i linked.

Don't be scared of the xtra-12. The 10 is only better if someone is jumping the hell out of it.
I can't think of a single year that the 440 or 488 is bad.

10 inches of travel vs. 12 inch? I'll keep my eyes open for something and if I can snatch it up I will. If anyone finds anything local to me (Northeastern IL) please let me know.

I personally think those are ugly, But its got xtra 12 if thats what you want, should make for a great trail riding sled, Not sure if its decent off trail? Well like IBS said as long as your not jumping it and shit its a good skid.

Not sure, I dont think i would pay quite that much for that sled, But to others its prolly worth it.

O hey if you want a sled like that, its not the classic, But its an indy 500, same chassis im pretty sure. Liquid 500. Those things sell for under a grand all the time. 95 and up.

I think they have standard short travel skid tho. Maybe the newer ones have xtra 10. Ive seen the 97s for sale under a grand too

EDIT: If you would be ok with the xtra 10, the 97 indy 500 carb has xtra 10 on it, Those sell under a grand. Ill see if i can find one
