2009 Ski-Doo MXZX 800
The 2009 MXZX 800 features the arm-stretching 800R PowerTEK engine. While this lightweight, 151 horsepower mill is among the fastest engines, thanks to the REV-X platform, itís one of the best handling sleds in the 800cc class. Eight additional inches of legroom and a more sculpted tank enable the driver to slide up in dynamic cornering or stretch his legs in relaxed cruising. On the ground is a lightweight Camoplast RipSaw REV-X track and a pair of aggressive Pilot 5.7 skis. New for í09 are the high quality HPG (High Pressure Gas) shocks with compression and rebound damping adjustments. They are totally rebuildable and revalvable, and housed in a new, lightweight aluminum body. Also new is the factory-installed electric start.
Once on the sleds, our Test Riders easily noticed how well the MXZX 800 worked in the bumps. Itís fast, smooth, and has plenty of power. The new gauge is amazing, featuring a sharply-styled analog speedometer and tachometer, complemented by a multi-function three-zone LCD screen. Each zone has a selection of data points to display, which can be changed via the handlebar control. Optional kits add functionality, such as compass, altimeter or 10-lap record/playback mode. We found the handguards were a bit on the small side, not providing your hands with enough wind protection. The sled looks as cool as it rides.
The í09 MXZX 800 is a sure bet if youíre looking for a sled that will get to the end of the lake in a hurry and handle the trails with ease. Itís a great combination of engine and suspension.
