Default 10 foot sled in a 6 1/2 foot bed

Thoughts?

With the tailgate down it might be 8 feet long.

Yea, but I have a mountain sled that is 10' 6" tip to tip. I am "THINKING" of getting a pickup.

it will hang out over the tailgate by 2'.......strap it in and put a red flag on it. I do it all the time. my friend has a 144" on his Polaris and I throw it in my Ford with a 6'6" bed.I strap it to the hold downs and the sleds rear bumper....good to go.

I've carried my 159 in shortbox truck, strap it good and make sure insurance is paid up. Seriously it'll fit. Carried my Phazer (10ft.6in.) in 6.5' bed with toolbox in it, ski's under box and hanging out rear. Never lost it.

Run the strap around the rails or something that doesn't compress when bouncing though. If you run a strap on the bumper it will compress and expand and loosen up.

Might want to put a piece of 3/4"x4'x8' piece of Plywood in the back Cuzz, the tailgate is held by those two chincy straps, at least with the plywood, you will relieve some of the weight on the tailgate, I had a' 77 Chev PU, shortbox, and snapped those straps twice, piece of plywood, never again. Cheap insurance ($20) for a sled, or maybe not in your case, those A.C.'s roll with the best I've heard!!! You tube video

It was a short lived idea with a tragic death. No pick-up for the Olaf this year. Hey Harry, got any smoking deals on any 1500s?

Hell yeah! $6000 cash back or 0% for 72 months. That is just waht GM is giving...we take more off the top than that!

Alright tell me what you want and we will get the paperwork started.

And I thought you didn't like GMC.

That is my plan in the long run. I'll have a sleddeck and a two place open. Gas would be cheap for 4 guys then. Hell, if I do this I think I might end up driving to Revy with my sled LOL.

Similar to what I was thinking...... Plus I'll be able to tow my RV behind if I want to. Right now I would have to borrow wifes truck to do same thing, that's just not gonna happen.....lol.

Even with a 3/4 it would probably save on gasoline. Towing my trailer with my 1500 I might average 12 MPG.

Now all you guys need to do is come see your friendly GMC dealer Dirty Harry.

I don't base selection on gas mileage, that may sound pretentious, but if it will pull a load in the mtns. I drive in, I'm good. Only reason I'm considering giving up my old Explorer is it's not as capable as I'd like for pulling. My RV loaded probably weighs in at 5000#. Explorer will move it, as long as I stay out the mtns. And stopping it is a real bitch unless I pull it down with the trailer brakes... So logical thing to do is buy a truck. My wife traded her Harley (which has been rode twice in 2 years) for a 1998 HD3500 4-door, 4wd,truck this past week. 454 and 5-speed manual, it'll pull anything we would care to hook to it. I'm looking at a similar truck only in a dually with an extra cab, or an extra cab Dodge with a short box on it..... Either way, it's going to happen before snow flies.

That Tundra is a turd. Have you driven one of those? Slow, feels like a tin can, and cheap.
