For those of you that havn't had a chance to read some of Laura's posts, i encourage you to do so. It was hard to do, but for the last hour i've went through her entire history of posts, i caught myself torn between tears and laughter as she ripped on other members, and provided her unique twisted idea's which ultimantly is why slednutz's are slednutz.

http://www.slednutz.com/search.php?searchid=78658

i've posted the link to her posts above, If you can't take it please don't click on it, but i for one am definatly glad i did.

The world and this forum will seem a little dimmer without her wit and humor in it.

I too was hoping and looking forward to maybe meeting her out west this season. That ride in Colorado won't be quite the same now for me.

Even to me, this brings tears of sadness to my eyes, I will miss you Rip'n. We all will.

its frustrating to see the good people die so tragically and young.
her words will be on here forever and she has a space in all of us. its wierd to emotional even though you never met someone. Death is a sad thing but its a time to celebrate a persons life and the good they brought us. they live on in our hearts and memorys forever.

if only you could tell the future, I would have made my last words to her a little better than " you can lick my elbow".

aint that the truth brother! there are lots of people on here that I have never met in person, but you still know them and talk about them like they live across the street. its funny how people can never meet but be great friends!!

The funeral date has not been set yet. RMKer has visted with both BJ and her father. I can find out an address for you and will get it posted. He knows she was greatly loved, but wants to keep eveything pretty low keyed for now. I know this has to be extremely difficult for him and his family and her extended family here.
Will keep you posted.

Please at least PM Bryan (or myself) the funeral arrangements so flowers can be sent. I'll pay for them and we can worry about the money thing another time if at all.

This is just another reason for living life to it's fullest. Everyday things we take for granted can be gone in an instant. There is no do-over in this game, make it count the first time.

We are a family, albiet a cyber one in almost all cases. We argue, discuss topics, agree and disagree. But we also care about each other as a family would. Is it because we belong to the same forum or because we share a common passion for a sport.

I'd have to say it's both. The forum allows us to form friendships and bonds in a way most people don't understand unless they too belong. I'll probably never meet most of the users on this forum, yet I've formed some friendships on here and other forums that rival any I have in real, day-to-day life.

I'd like to think of Rip'n as a friend. A fellow sledder who had the fortune of also being a woman. No disrespect intended to either her or any other women in this sport. Just meaning there aren't that many that share a passion for it. She did.

I guess I'm just venting here to try to express some of what I'm feeling right now. Hopefully it will make sense to most. I'm normally as unemotional at work as a stone, today isn't that way.

Rip'n touched all of our lives in one way or another. I'll admit I tried going thru her posts and couldn't do it. Maybe in days to come I will, but not today.

Sorrow will pass for all of us, memory will not as long as we keep her spirit alive in our hearts.

I've talked with BJ and Laura's dad. Probably the toughest phone conversations I've tried to have in a while. Their getting by considering the circumstances. I don't want to pry into their plans for the funeral I know they want to keep it small with family and close friends. They have my phone number and email if I hear anything from them I will let you all know.
I do wish them all the best, they all embrassed Indy and myself like family when we got together last march and that's what makes this harder on me, I don't have many friends but the ones I do have I wouldn't trade for anything.

I too have emailed Laura's dad and gave him my phone number, so they do know how to reach us when they are ready too.
Life is to short, don't take anything or anyone for granted - live life to the fullest as Vert said.
I will think of Rip'n every time I go up snowmobiling and I will think of her with a big smile. It's kind of hard to do now, but I do want to remember the best of times I had with her on the Mountains in Colorado and on this Forum.

By far the BEST moderation you've done IBS. Thank You for all of us.

Indy from the little I knew Rip'n, I believe she'd want all of us to remember the good times, not greive too long on this single event in her life. To me that was the kind of person she was.

RMKer: I'm the same way bro, my friends in real life I can count on both hands and each of them means the world to me. My cyber friends, I feel nearly the same way, just missing the in-person physical part of it. I hope to correct that with some of you at least in the very near future.

HEY HEY HEY! There will be nothing being stuck inside THIS person in Colorado come January or at any other time or place by anyone.

Gotta keep it real for Ripn..... she needs a laugh from us.

But on a serious note... for sure. I know I'll be seeing Bryan, Power, and whoever else comes to ride in Michigan. Hopefully I'll ride with some of you out west and I can't wait for Hay Days next month.

Why did I NOT know you would be the one to catch and exploit that comment. But you are right, Rip'n will be looking down right now, laughing her ass off at it.

I won't make the Eastern rides, but I will make it to wherever we decide to ride out west. See as many as make it out there.

I do hope we will still have a good turn out for the Walden ride. I would like to ride in her memory. RMKer and I talked about this and thought it would be pretty cool to ride up to American Lakes - weather permitting and put a memorial - flowers or whatever we decide - in her honor. What ever mountain top we make it too - we will do it in her honor.
Looking forward to meeting more of the slednutz family in person!!
And yes, I will definitely remember Ripn in a good happy way!

Outstanding idea, I had thought of the ride being in her honor, hadn't thought of a memorial. I'm assuming this is the area you guys rode in with Rip'n and BJ? If so, I'm all for making the ride there, only condition is you 2 have to tell us the tale at each stop along the way. Sort of a sledders wake for Rip'n.

Its so weird, how one day, things are perfectly normal, everythings fine, the slednutz family is just BSing.

Its amazing, how close we've all gotten through basic chatting and small group rides together.

Ripn may have only met a few members on this site, but was one of the most respected, and well known members. Its werid, how as a forum and small chat, that we've become more of a family and how much it affects us even when we barley knew each other, but knew each other so well.

As I read this thread, I store at that first post, my mother asked me what I was doing or if something was wrong, because normally I am clicking away, I responded saying one of the members was gone, she passed away in a car accident. And she just kinda moved on, but for US, its so much more.

It may not mean much, and I will be praying for her personally tonight, but heres a few words for ya ripn.

Dear Lord, Laura, as we know her, is and always will be a great, highly succesful, knowledgeable fun to be around person who was loved by all of us. Please take her in your arms, and take damn good care of her, cause she would have done the same for any of us.

Amen

And Ripn, I accept your apology for making fun of me with bryan when I didnt know about it.

Ill be pouring one for you to ripn! but I cant post in your guestbook on SF, cause im baned, and it wont be beer, maybe Sunkist or something.

Wow, it goes without saying that these forums will never be the same without her.

I cant believe how some people drive. This same thing happened to a former high school teacher of mine who is also a co-workers brother. A drunk driver ran through a stop sign and ended up killing his wife. I know how tragic an event like this can be.

I don't really know what to say but her family has my condolences.
