A friend of mine has one from that era '03 or '04. They're not bad sleds, although it did seem a little heavy to me. On paper they are supposed to be lighter than my rmk, but it sure didn't feel like it when we had to move drag it around the garage. But for a 500 they're fairly quick and they have the good looks of the firecat chassis. So overall its a pretty decent sled.

I swear to god nobody reads my posts over there anymore...clearly I have been dubbed so CYI worthy that nobody cares...

It was in 07 they nuked the power.

Oh, and the f5...ok sled. They have decent power for a 500 and are relatively nimble on the trails. Could be a fun sled I suppose. Personally, I need more power than that 500 can put out to haul my fat ass around...

Nothin wrong with a 500, adequate power and easier on gas.

My son has an '05 Fiirecat 500 and I an '05 700. We are extremely pleased with their performance, they have been fairly maintenance free and both are very very quick.

i have an 03 firecat 700 and an 03 firecat 500, both sleds are great when i am riding with my buddies i let them use my f5, the sled keeps up with the 700 until about 80 then the 700 pulls. but in your situation if you are trailing riding you dont need to have a 700. the 500 is plenty good and overall a great sled no problems here i bought them both brand new highly recommended
