Some of you already know that recently I got a PSI "Big Bore" 800 (twin) engine, well i finally got time to get home and get to working on the sled.....

I'm not sure but I think there is less resonance in the center of the pipe then at the end. I really can't wait till I'm able to start this thing up though, because the silencer is basically a cherry bomb style muffler(I can look straight through it )
Rich, what specs do you mean?
PSI claims it to be about 160hp (pump gas)
I did run into a few problems with this today, the new engine has the coolant fitting for the water pump under the engine facing the carb side while the old engine had a fitting on the front. I think that is just a change from the older XC (220)models to the RMK and later XC (824) models. Hopefully I should just be able to find a parts diagram.
Mark, do you remember what you ran for jets and spark plugs? The jets I got with the engine are 198, but I had 210's in my 700 with the twin SLP's.

it should be fairly quiet. the air speed in that spot of the pipe is very slow compared to coming off the end of the cone. so you get less of a POP sound out of the silencer. that is how I did my pipe mod to make my pipes fairly quiet. I ran a piece of tubing up the end cone to about where you have your exit pipe at, cut the noise in half of what it was. I went longer the first time but the sled was way to quiet then.

wow nothing like trying to setup a new motor for jetting and what not but to toss in dialing in clutching at the same time to. you are a glutten for punishment.
just remember, if the jetting looks fat and you are low on rpms try to change clutching first then jet down.

Jumping 30hp from the engine I had I needed to change the primary components out anyways though. I might just leave the stock secondary on it until I get the primary and jetting dialed in(still gotta get a tempaflow) and then after that I'll start messing around with the Cat roller. The guy I bought the engine from recommended that I call CMX for some good ideas for setting everything up.
I'll never turn down good information, post up if you have some ideas

Looking good, looking good. One of these days I will get the REAL project PSI started.

Even more weight? Guess I'll have to find out once I'm able to get home again in a few weeks
I'll have to go through what helix's came with the engine, I think there are 3 or 4 of them for the roller secondary, there's probably one in there close to what I want. My only concern now is finding out what spring to use in the secondary because I'm not so familiar with cat rollers yet. Gonna have to do more readin

you should be able to use your polaris springs in the cat clutch? I know some cat springs you can use in the button clutch. with a cat roller the helixs are a little different than a poo. but personally I would put in the smallest helix with a medium spring and load the motor with weight. if you can get a dyno sheet that show hp and torque it should look like this
this motor would be a dream to clutch since the hp goes over a 500 rpm window and the torque is flat. depending on how your motor makes power you might be running something like a 50-36 helix medium/high spring and some 64 weights. but when you jump to the cat clutch depending on the helix's and springs you might be less wieght or more weight. but you should have a close starting point.
