Default Escape Lives Again

Well after months of waiting, picked up Escape today. Pissed at shop because evidently the shop was full at some time over summer and my sled set outside in weather. Going to take some cleaning and waxing to get it as it was when I dropped it off. Motor is in, running, and sounding tight. Brought it home on trailer, then swapped it into truck bed for trip to Gillette. Almost had a walk thru door in rear of cab loading it into shortbox, but it's in.

Now for a question, will high temp header paint stick to those ugly ass pipes?

Just a little different ........825 UBR billet. It's not completely done yet, but I was tired of waiting. I'll either finish it myself or take it to a shop closer to Gillette.

Still to be done P1man, I was tired of not having it with me. Motor runs, time for me to pick it up. I'm looking into a Digatron for it, just haven't gotten to it yet.

The smell of Amsoil in the air, ya gotta love it.

High Desert Polaris in Rock Springs did the install, FasTrax in Washington built the motor.

I was worried a little about FasTrax buying out Union Bay Racing, shouldn't have. Kurt @ FasTrax has been super to work with and by what I can tell, built a motor that SHOULD hold up a few seasons.

Wonder if that plug will get me a discount on 850 rebuild?

My neighbors here at the RV park all love me about now, at least the ones downwind. Motor is running about 20:1 right now with premix and injection working. Unloading it spread a cloud of 2-stroke all over downwind side. And for a change, wind is barely blowing.

I figure I did my good deed for the weekend, shared with the less fortunate.....lol.

Most of these guys are from the south, they have no real idea of what may come in the next few weeks. And worse, they won't listen to what it can be like up here.

A few of them have worked up north, but not in WY. I grew up in the north, IL wasn't anything near what a WY winter can be......

I'm hoping to get jetting where I can ride here when next big storm dumps a foot or so in park. I listened to 4 wheelers all summer, they can listen to those twins bellow.

Maybe because it's been awhile or maybe my imagination, but this motor sounds louder than last with same pipes and stingers.......

I'm just wishing each of those flys had took a Texan with them. I lived among these arrogant pricks for 25+ years, moved here in part because I realized I was becoming just like them.............. pricks followed me up here.

I was pretty sure it would. I'll get them pulled and cleaned up, shoot some coating on them. Look fugly right now. I may send the UBR twins out and have them blasted and ceramic coated, not sure yet.

Now to get it ridable down here and wait for snow......

Honestly I hadn't even looked yet. It has been in shop so long I forgot how rought pipes even looked. I did a double take when I walked up and saw them. Thought for just a second they had been switched, then realized all was good. I'll pull and coat these good and then decide what/where to send the other set.

But as you jumped in here, ever given any thought to CM radius arms in the fashion of TimberSleds? Just a thought. I'm going to replace front with something later, was going with BarkBuster, but if you could replicate ............

This one is freshly back from FasTrax, I bought it last winter when I blew the 850 UBR motor. Guy a bought it from had bought it brand new from UBR, installed it in Edge chassis, rode less than 5 miles and seized it. It took new pistons, new cylinder on pto side to repair it. I had them go thru entire thing and replace everything. It's in effect a brand new motor.

Anxious to get this thing on some snow at elevation and see how it runs.

How did you get a baseline for jetting, clutching and such? Just a recommendation from the shop or from FasTrax?

FasTrax (Kurt) provided all setup info for them. If I had to do it again, I'd have either shipped or taken entire sled to FasTrax. I will send 850 motor to them, see what it'll take to put it back in service for a backup to both RMK's

I did a little playing around with numbers and I think the AL came out lighter, but I'm not entirely sure what thicknesses would be adequate enough to withstand the loads put on them.

I could see AL for the radius rods and steering rods, CM would seem better for the trailing arms and spindle for strength. The Barkbuster uses a unique looking design, more like a ladder bar for a vehicle.

Billet AL is best for the spindles and yes CM or carbon fiber are best for the trailing arms. I just need the time to be able to out different ideas and the money for metal stock and tooling.

Need a tester? I'm gonna be looking at doing this for frontend by mid-season. Looking for CM trailing and AL radius/steering rods. That's IF I don't bend arm again. If that happens I may have to accelerate plans.

Otherwise get busy.......
